Listening this morning, it appeared they were talking about the podcast passing 1 million downloads since they started

Anyone hear Simon Mayo play a request for Dominik The Donkey on R2 last night? Rather surprisingly he said he'd never heard of the song.

Thats a bit boring, I mean its great for them but of no significance to the listener. For the record, I think you're wrong. Theres a video on the Facebook page but you have to lip read it, and Im convinced the last word is "year(s)". I do think he has extended the contract.

Speaking of the podcast...Android devices. How do you get the poscast on Android devices?

Ah, I just heard the start of this morning show back. I stand corrected, apologies for that!

Im a bit disappointed, its not so exciting for us.

There's a huge variety of apps you could use, but I've found the best so far to be this one:

Probably the only way to make it work is to put the obvious songs on the wheel of inappropriate tracks.”

They played Bruce at 06:51 this morning

First weekday breakfast without Moyles since Radio X started, a few little digs from Jon about the fact he's playing more music. Included an amusing Vernon Kay quiz.

Jon covering for next two weeks, assuming he is the new Scott Mills. Think he is a pretty good choice for cover, very capable broadcaster but quite different from Moyles and plays more music, just like Scott.

Agreed, Jon is a great choice and glad they didn't bottle it because he used to be the xfm breakfast presenter. As you say his personality is similar to Moyles but at the same time a completely different broadcaster.

A few random jingles being heard during the pre-recorded show this morning. I just heard the news bed during Bowie's Heroes. Other than that, it's been a good show so far.

I must be the only one who finds Jon Holmes a painful listen. He's a witty guy but doesn't work too well on the radio for me. Worst X breakfast host I can remember in recent years - they've got a good pedigree, with the likes of Danny Wallace, Alex Zane (yes, really) and Lauren Laverne providing some great shows in years gone by.

Is anyone else a bit surprised that Chris Moyles is still doing pre-recorded best of shows between 9am and 11am this week?
Do Radio X know it’s not the Christmas holidays anymore!?!

If Chris wanted 2 weeks off would it have made more sense to take the week before and the week after Christmas off (as that’s when most people take their Christmas break), rather than the 2 weeks after Christmas (when most people are back at work this week). It just seemed a bit of an odd choice to me...

In terms of time off, it's no different from Chris Evans, on Radio 2 - who worked up until Christmas Eve, and is still off this week. The rest of the Radio 2 schedule is back to normal this week, though.

The fact that they've borrowed an hour from Jon Holmes and Vernon Kay to squeeze in more 'best of Moyles' shows this week is a bit strange - but I guess it reflects the extent to which they see Moyles as their biggest selling point.

Chris Evans still being off on Radio 2 is another oddity to me, even more so for the fact he doesn’t appear to be back until 18th January!

I just find it a bit of an odd decision to have Chris Moyles not back this week – surely more people were off work the days before Christmas than are still off work this week. Looking at his twitter feed it appears I’m not the only one slightly confused by the decision to have only ‘best ofs’ 9am-11am this week.

They haven't borrowed any time, Holmes is just covering the first 2.5 hours of Moyles slot, with Moyles doing the last hour, Vernon has just shifted his show by an hour so Moyles can be on until 11, Vernon on air until 2pm this week. Dan OC is off this week so he's not losing out either.

Jon Holmes keeps saying he's on breakfast everyday through to 1/11 (He uses the US date structure as a comical comparison to 9/11), does that mean he's also covering next Monday and Moyles sin't back until Tuesday 12th?

Interesting to have the same breakfast show presenter for 16 or 17 consecutive days, has that happened on any other station before?

Evans will be filming Top Gear I guess now

On the app it says Chris is back to usual on Monday.

Schedule shows Chris back next Monday with Jon covering up to and including Jan 10th.

I find it a bit weird that they have a best of two hour show this week.
That kind of gives you the impression Radio X can't survive without a daily dose of Moyles.

Be interesting to see what happens when he has his next two weeks off in April, will they run a schedule like this week again so they can include a daily best of?

Surely the best of is just to also allow Vernon to stay off longer as well - pushing the day schedule along a bit?

I'm not sure of the point of Moyles at 9 otherwise - most people have made it into work by that point.

If people have got DAB for Christmas then I presume Radio X don't want them to wait two weeks for a dose of Moyles as they might tune somewhere else?

The 9-11am scheduling is slightly strange - I guess they want the key hours of breakfast to be live?

Fair point, but if he's booked it off, he's booked it off!

Whilst Moyles is off am listening to Sara Cox (8-830am plays a good selection of music), she is better than Evans, the sport guy Vassos can be a bit annoying think he is funny, She uses his format/team mostly, would be good to see if she was given job full time.

Am dipping into Scott Mills on Radio 1 but this morning seemed to be Hollywood celebrity interview guff.

But Vernon is back this week just an hour later 11-2, why couldn't they do the same in April to continue with the daily dose of Moyles.
