Chris Moyles, cannot do a show on his own.

Needs at least three other people to help him out.

That's not talent. Just like Chris Evans. Hopeless on their own.
Absolute rubbish. Evans was brilliant in the "Too Much Gravy" days, and Moyles was great when standing in for Greg James. They can both do solo radio really well, that they do group radio instead is a result of their abilities, not their limitations.

I can't believe how great this breakfast show is. I wasn't tempted to listen because I was dreading having to listen to heavy rock, However I'm hooked 2 days in and now I find myself tuning in to the station throughout the day as the music is better than I expected!

The music isn't for me at all, I did try to stick it out yesterday. I don't want to listen to a whole station of guitar music and this is the reason why the RAJAR figures won't be as high as everyone on here is probably thinking they'll be.

BUT, fortunately they don't play much music on the breakfast show so I'm throughly enjoying it! I just switch over when a song comes on.

Out of interest, when will the first RAJARs come out which will likely encompass Chris's breakfast show?

If i'm reading this right, they've hit the time for the Q4 figures so should be February 4th?

I was not sure if I would like this station but I think so far it has been very good, bonus for myself is that I drive from west Cheshire into Liverpool each day & 97.7 is clear across the area, the mumford & sons bit was funny, good listen so far for me

This really does show the power of a good breakfast show. I've been listening to X all day at work. Music much better then expected and I like the other presenters too.

Correct.

Much will no doubt be made of the Q3 figures when they're released next month but they'll be Xfm's final figures and won't cover Moyles or the new station.

The Q4 release in February will of course attract much publicity and many will be quick to judge Moyles a success or a failure depending on how he does. The reality is most people's listening habits don't change overnight and a breakfast show normally takes a good year to bed in as word of mouth spreads and people decide whether or not to stick with it. So the first couple of quarters aren't an accurate measure of success, even though the press will be quick to compare his performance with Grimshaw & Evans who've had lots of time to settle in and build a stable listener base.

All of that is true, however with the app issues and website slowdowns at launch, this could be a bit of a one off in commercial radio. Must be 15 years since anything in commercial radio made the headlines like this has.

Interesting that other Global DJs seem very happy to have Moyles in the house - I heard Andrew Castle mentioning him on Smooth (just after Dom went in for a kiss!).

Also interesting that Global, corporate like crazy, seem quite happy for Moyles to take the piss!

I hope Global don't mess with it too much - the entire station is pretty much brilliant for me. Spot on music, and Vaughan is also very very good - big surprise for me!

But PLEASE get it on stereo DAB asap.... I'm only listening on D1 because the app is knackered! In car it really DOES matter.

I thought that as well....

Tough listen this morning: Thing was the loose formula worked on Radio 1 as they had all worker together for years and knew each other's natural timing.

They are trying to do that now after only a week of sitting together. This showed during the "Run in to other people's studio" bit.
That bit was a tad chaotic and as I listened I imagined the complaints from disgruntled Xfm listeners who absolutely hate the new line-up. It still made me laugh though, but as I've said I'm a massive Moyles fan so even the slightly less developed parts of the show entertain me.

Think this is exactly what Global needs to make them less corporate and machine like.

I have listened to Johnny on the way home and its very good.

Oh the irony of johnny doing a bit on stereo last night and what a technical achievement it is! Wonder if that was a dig at DAB being in mono.

I wonder if global might dump one of their other stations on freeview and replace it with radio x as surely the demand so far appears to justify it?

That would be great. My TV prompted me to scan for channels yesterday and I wondered if it was Radio X being added but sadly not.

Really enjoying the show. It's the first time I have been sitting in the car listening whilst I should be in work for many years. Last time I did that was probably when Chris Evans was in his prime on Radio 1 back in the 90s. Maybe Moyles really is the saviour of DAB !

And Johnny Vaughans show is great for the drive home. Global have made a wise move getting these 2 on board.

Target audience for Grimmy Wimmy Woo Woo are more on other platforms such as Instagram & online video content. Twitter and Facebook are seen as "for the old people"

In passing just found the old Chris Moyles page on Facebook for Radio 1 Breakfast which started on the 12 June 2012 that was/is on 1,437,694 likes.

It's possible as space does become available occasionally, but they recently launched Classic FM on Freeview at 64k/mono so the audio might not be great.

I completely agree. I've been a loyal Chris Evans listener since before Moyles left Radio 1 - but I've been listening to Moyles this week and it's the most compelling, laugh-out-loud funny radio I've heard in a very long time.

The same goes for Johnny Vaughan. A broadcaster who's 100% on my wavelength - his critique of the plot weaknesses in Skyfall yesterday had me in stitches.

As a Global entity wouldn't surprise me if they charge for it (ala LBC) however with music you would find it hard to do more than 1 per week surely?
If Radio X charge listeners for a Chris Moyles Show podcast I’ll be really disappointed.

Podcasts can act as a great advertising for a station, and to charge for them will impact that. If Global are really insistent on generating revenue from podcasts then the better option would be to include a few adverts in my opinion.

XFM used to have free podcasts for its most high profile shows (including breakfast), and only charged for ‘special’ shows, like Russell Brand’s one-off return and ‘the best of’ Ricky Gervais podcasts, so I’m hoping for a Chris Moyles Show podcast at the end of the week.
I can certainly see it being top of the iTunes chart – as I said, great promotion for Radio X in general.

As a former Xfm devotee I'm really missing the station and three days in close to ditching Moyles breakfast show. Too much chat for me, but really not that interesting. Why the obsession with other stations within the Global family and references to Smooth etc? Can he not think of anything more creative to talk about? And the references to Toby Anstis doing to voice-overs? So what, I don't really care.

Between the chat, the adverts and everything else there's less room for music. Fair enough, I expected that from a Moyles show, but the new music policy IS less exciting and more focused on mainstream and sometimes older acts.

I've listened to every Xfm breakfast show through the days of Tom Binns (I think!), Christian O'Connell and Shaun Keavney. This is the first one I think I'll turn off and either listen to 6Music via TuneIn or podcasts on my morning commute.

But if for every listener like you, there are 2 who start tuning in for Moyles, Kay, Vaughn then they're onto a winner audience wise.

One thing is for sure - this isn't your textbook Global breakfast show is it? Actually, it's not your textbook commercial radio show. There's nothing else like it around, and I hope it's a runaway success.
I totally agree and it's so refreshing. Massive Moyles fan and I find myself smiling everytime the show starts. I wonder if Radio X would ever become as big as Radio 1 and the like? It certainly seems possible from what I've heard so far.

I do think the playlist needs expanding a little, and I'm not a massive indie/rock fan but I too have been impressed by how much of the music I actually like!

So pleased to have Moyles back on the air, he's definitely an excellent radio DJ.

People who listen to Radio 1 now would be seen as uncool, Nick Grimsaw was never cool in the first place through
