I don't think he was pushed out by Ben cooper, we all know Chris and Dave did not get along even tho you couldn't tell on air, so maybe it was his choice to leave when he did and Ben didn't say no. I'm sure he was offered other time slots but decided not to take them which might of ment he didn't get paid the remainder of his contract, Chris also had to pay a large tax bill due to a tax avoidance loophole.
Andy Parfit renewed Moyles' contract before he stepped down as controller this was announced at the time so Moyles was due to stay until 2014. I imagine they give him a big pay off and the terms of that we're probably not to present with a competitor for 3 years as if he'd started within months of leaving R1 there would have been a great no. Of listeners moving across. Agree a month off is a long time, but it is August and many other professions, teaching, politicians have longer off at this time of year. The majority of his audience will probably have 1 or 2 weeks off over this period so not many will notice he's been away for do long. |

Johnny Vaughan's off next week anyways (Clint Boons on) so the whole covering for Johnny thing is a bit redundant.

He did an interview with Nolan on 5live last September and explained his R1 departure, he was pushed they even wanted to announce his departure minutes after he was told but got them to agree he could tell his audience next day. He wanted to make 10 years at breakfast so was frustrated with the timing.

Chris doesn't even talk about Dave and vice versa, Dave still listens to radio 1 not radio x in fact he has never even mentioned radio and X in the same sentence. |

Personally I don't listen to Radio X, but reading this thread it does seem like Moyles has lots of holidays, especially during the last few months. Seemingly works about four weeks then takes a week off, and in this case four. Surely it can't help the figures if he keeps disappearing and Vernon or even best bits are on, especially if people don't like Vernon and will turn off, and possibly not come back.
It seems like Moyles has too much power at Radio X, and other presenters surely can't be happy with how much more time off he gets than them. I can't see him staying beyond the two years, it just doesn't seem like the right fit. Johnny Vaughan for breakfast after that, and would probably fit the type of station better and be more popular with listeners. |

I have a feeling when he returns in September, there will be relaunch especially if he wants to earn another year after next September.
He needs to go through to christmas with maximum 2 weeks holiday, taken in 1 week blocks. Then return 2nd week of January but put some proper cover in, not just best ofs. The show needs to have some regular features at set times. Bring back the wheel of inapproiate tracks this was fun. The ads - change the structure if they have to be 5 minutes long make them that, but less frequent it spoils the flow of show and dont refer to it on-air (we have to play ads or ads/song) make the shower a bit tighter/slicker. Obv with a Moyles stamp on it. Its obvious they dont sell ads in the 6.30-7am slot hence the long link. The music dont have to play current chart pop/dance music, but anything that is cross over alternative needs to be considered. Stop playing the same artists over and over again Noel G, Phonics, Rolling Stones, Bowie, RHCP, Muse etc. The competitions bring in money I get that, just space them out a bit dont run them on back to back weeks. Get out on the road, Road Trip style- spend some money - do the DAB 50% off deal with Pure/halfords, but run a Halfords promo week on-air. Introduce Matt on-air, if Daves away or Pippa get him on. Scrap the Staurday show or reduce it 2 hours, no new material. |

Personally if Moyles changed his show to how it was like on R1, I feel it would increase the listenership by a significant margin.
O'Connell on Absolute seems to have 'nicked' the format and seems to be doing fine (even though I find his show to be too forced). O'Connell could actually pull it off himself instead of surrounding himself with idiots who find every tiny thing he says absolutely hilarious. It's pretty obvious it's scripted. The only difference with Moyles R1 show was, many of us couldn't tell his script. It sounded all natural. It takes some skill to make it so. |

I wonder if they've considered Ellis & John to cover breakfast? It would be a very different show to what Moyles does, but they're the only other personality presenters outside of Vaughan.
Vernon really isn't dong it - but I imagine the whole idea was that they keep the rest of the team, and bring in someone a bit worse than Moyles so he looks good. |

I think Moyles will be gone at the end of his current contract and he'll probably end up working for a station in the USA.
Radio X it's not for him and I just don't think it will improve. Chris would have been far better on Capital, Heart or Virgin. The current limited playlist and the genre of music does't suit Moyles neither does the lack of features or jingles, I was excited for the first few months but lost interest. |

That's the turn off perhaps moyles would of been better if he started his own show on the internet/DAB I'm sure it would of been a success. Trouble is there are just to many channels out there with virgin back on the market now to. |

I know Chris will do his usual 'don't let the door bang you on the arse as you leave' schitck when I say I am going back to LBC, but as clever as it may be Mr Moyles, you do not have the numbers to keep telling everyone to bugger off if they do not like the format.

I actually like Heart so I don't mean this to be disparaging to the three stations you mention, but doesn't Radio X have the widest playlist out of the lot of them? I would probably agree that the playlist of Heart or Capital may fit better with his own personal tastes, but I'm not sure the 'music-first' approach of either of those stations would work with Moyles's style.

Utter madness there's thousands of great radio stations streaming online, with a proper variety of music, decade stations, stations with presenters others without, some with adverts others without and you choose Heart lol

See out the contract, get a weekend gig on radio 2 and be the long term replacement for Steve Wright. That would be the ideal scenario for both Chris and the BBC.

Whilst Chris is away, I have been listening to Vernon, also ive been downloading Chris Moyles old shows from chrismoyles.net from 2008, and ive noticed that there was alot of team interaction in his radio 1 days, he still has team interaction on Radio X but he needs to up his game though.

Interesting that Vernon mentioned Comedy Dave on today's show, don't think Moyles has made a single reference to him since he joined Radio X. He'd be a good addition to the team if Moyles would make up with him.
