Im trying to listen back using Radio Player within my internet broswer on an Android phone, through earphones. I can barely hear it, even with the player volume and phone volume turned up.
I realise you cant listen again via the android app, but what about the Radio Player app? I cant find anything and cant carry on with what Im using currently. |

A little embarrassing with the studio phones not working and then more recently the app/online listening failing.

I'm in two minds about this really. When I heard the rumours I was really pleased - Moyles is quite a good fit with the mainstream side of XFM's playlist and one of the few commercial stations that his style can still work on. First few days have been an entertaining listen, and it's great that Global have given them so much freedom. The running-into-Smooth idea was great, and I loved the bit this morning when he got really annoyed with a tour staring at him through the window and got them to go away. It's great for DAB (even if it being mono is awful) and it is wonderful to see a commercial station launch with so much emphasis on the presenters and content all over the schedule and not just at breakfast, rather than lame taglines like "more much variety".
But...it's a shame he's pitched up at Radio X with much the same show. I get the "if it ain't broke don't fix it argument", but people forget that it wasn't until 2006/7-ish that he really started over-doing the links and only playing about 2 songs a half hour. Prior to that he did more speech than other DJs but always knew when to put a lid on it. The Greg James fill-ins he did in 2012 were so refreshing and showed that he can still just be a funny DJ, like when he started at R1. Although the long chatty bits are often entertaining that's not always the case and on a station with the tagline "get into the music" it sits a bit oddly that 3 of the daytime DJs talk so much. There are also far fewer voices than there used to be on the R1 show which doesn't help the situation. Dom is a good foil but he'll never be as good as Dave was, and then you've got Pippa and New Dave who don't really have much to add yet. The celeb interviews I always found the weakest part of the R1 show - never as entertaining as they seemed to think, and the same is true at X. Tue's show was a lot tighter and all the better for it. Also I never thought I'd say this but you can really notice (Comedy) Dave's absence, not so much in the studio (particularly as he was so withdrawn towards the end) but in the written bits and bobs like Paul's VOs which I think he used to write, and the complete lack of features elsewhere in the show. It's really sad how there genuinely does seem to be some sort of rift between them - not a single word said by Mr Vitty on Twitter about the new show. The attempt to get a nickname going for New Dave seems a pretty undisguised effort to avoid having someone else called "Dave" to draw comparisons with (which Noel Gallagher did instantly). Also anyone know what Pippa and New Dave's roles are? They said she was "executive producer" which is odd given that's normally someone much more senior and definitely not sat in the studio all show. It makes me wonder if Chris insisted on bringing someone from the production side of his old show and Global wanted one of their own producers on the show, so we end up with this compromise. Despite these quibbles I'm really enjoying the show. It's one of the first things that's made me want to listen to commercial radio! Don't get the Grimmy bashing though, their audiences have very little in common and as Chris himself said the guy's only doing what he's been asked to do. |

Don't get the Grimmy bashing though, their audiences have very little in common and as Chris himself said the guy's only doing what he's been asked to do. What I'll never understand is the chat vs music thing. I am shocked that music radio is still a thing let alone so widespread. There are hundreds of breakfast DJs up and down the country barely speaking and playing back to back music - some of which you like and some of which you don't. Very rarely will a DJ play a song that I'm over the moon to hear or had forgotten existed. In a world where Spotify exists, I would much rather listen to a playlist I've put together if I want music. I listen to the Chris Moyles Show for Chris Moyles. |

I listen to the Chris Moyles Show for Chris Moyles. I understand people being upset about losing the XFM station, but people moaning about chris playing too few songs, too much chat, etc do make me chuckle. It was never going to be anything else. And its not his fault. The powers that be knew what he would bring, they obv wanted to go down that route. He seems to have pretty much free reign with the show so they are placing alot of faith in him and the team, and so far (early days, granted) for me, its working. |

Can't stand the music on Radio X can't tolerate Moyles absolute rubbish. He is childish beyond belief. Running around Global corridors interrupting other stations what a total dickxxxd. |

You can listen to us on DAB on "crystal clear mono.......we're working on it. We've spoken to Ashley."

Rock fans have a right cheek... They have more choice than any other genre of music with DAB & Online.
So if they aren't happy they can listen elsewhere. You could argue that if you want a breakfast show where the presenter waffles on endlessly about unfunny nonsense there are plenty of choices as it is. |

XFM was supposed to be an alternative music station not strictly a rock station. The only other station that broadly fits that description is BBC 6Music.

Christian O'Connell on Absolute radio, the breakfast shows on the numerous Jack FM's.... Care to name the stations that offer the same format as XFM did?

Never listened to XFM and certainly not a fan of rock music whatever format it's in. Like the potential 1.5 million Moyles fans we're listening for him and his personality not the music.

Says it all really when you seem to assume all rock music is the same. Some preferred XFM yet you think they have a cheek when there aren't any other stations that offer the same format.

There's 1000's of Rock, indie, metal stations you can listen to online. Things do change and I'm afraid XFM has gone.

Funny
Thought it was very funny that they spinned the wheel to Capital xtra this morning and for a few seconds they were thinking we can't have anyone go to a broom cupboard with a computer in being visited
