Nice to hear Chris play the Isaac Hayes song this morning, which he helped get to no.1 back in early 1999, one of the first big things he did on his Radio 1 afternoon show.

Think he needs to bring back Stanta as Christmas, Radio 1 banned it.

The last 2 podcasts have been laugh out loud funny. I tend to just listen to the podcasts now

Radio X is 1 year old today
Well done all the team

(Just started today's show on download) Chris says so far no recognition yet from anyone in the building 😂

Great Ofcom gag , they haven't found us yet so no complaints so far

Chris is doing an uncensored podcast available to BUY. SOME or all money will go to Globals charity
It will be recorded in a pub after they have consumed alcohol
Oh dear.
How's this one gonna go down .....?

O'Connell a friendly atmosphere? Only if you call a group of acolytes being paid to laugh at every over-scripted, laboured joke friendly ...
Mildly disagree with that. While most breakfast shows are supplemented by a collection of hired sea-lions, O'Connell's team are far from the gaggle of acolytes which others have had. Both Matt Dyson and Faye Carruthers certainly say things as they see it, while Richie Firth seems to occupy a whole planet of his own.

Probably mostly radio anorak chat and complaints about Genesis etc.

That's a kick in the nads - Radio X to interview Liam and Bonehead for charity, but JV gets the gig.

Absolute Breakfast is quite rigid in its structure, certainly compared to what Moyles does (though some might argue that's not a bad thing) but you're absolutely right to call people out when they mock something they've never listened to. The whole team there are excellent, and XFM listeners will remember Matt Dyson's qualities from his decade or so at the station.

That does maybe say something about who Global ‘value’.

Maybe it's availability? The interview's to be held in Manchester...

Vaughan is based in London too though. Chris this morning was desperate to get tickets to go and see it.

Reading a bit more about the Liam and Bonehead interview... they are performing an intimate gig on Sunday 16th October in front of 200 people. Along with the gig will be an initiate and in-depth interview about their time in Oasis, which will be broadcast on Radio X.

To be honest, I can see why Johnny Vaughn has been chosen for it. It’s not typically the sort of thing Chris Moyles would be involved in, even in the Radio 1 days. Moyles does the breakfast show for whatever radio station he’s on and that’s about it. He doesn’t even go to the press junkets to interview celebrities for his own show, instead sending Dom.
The only way I could see Moyles doing this is if it was done for the breakfast show, live in the studio. As it’s being done in Manchester and for a special programme I’m not surprised Radio X has got Johnny Vaughan to do it.

Yes, he now interviews Daniel Radcliffe, Sam Neill and Judge Rinder - come on - he was passed over for the stations favourite broadcaster!

Might this all be as simple as Chris isn't that into Oasis while Johnny is?

It was put across to the listener as "in a massive slap in the face to me [Chris], Liam chose Johnny to do the interview".

I'm not one to read too much into things, but I just saw this tweet from Global - a photo of their stand at the Labour conference, which is covered in pictures of their presenters:

https://twitter.com/thisisglobal/sta...82973150601216

A lot of the people you'd think would be prominent are - Nick Ferrari, Iain Dale, Jamie & Emma, John Suchet. Johnny Vaughan is front and centre too.

Chris Moyles, however, appears to be lurking somewhere in the back on the far left.

Probably just because he's not particularly relevant to a political audience. But, then again, I'm not sure Jamie & Emma are either!

All of which, unless I’m mistaken, came into the studio to be interviewed live on the breakfast show.

For some reason Chris himself doesn’t do interviews if they require him to do them outside the studio and outside the breakfast show hours. And he certainly doesn’t do one-off interview specials for elsewhere on the schedule. But this isn’t anything new, it was the same at Radio 1.

I’m not saying he’s right with this behaviour, or that Global were right to give the interview to Johnny Vaughan - it's just an observation.

At Radio 1, it would have been Gallagher, Ashcroft et al, not the soporific acting community stated above. They are only in Global because they are doing the rest of the stations too, not just for Moyles - Chris must be dying inside.

Just seen this:

http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/09/glob...r-in-pictures/

Chris not involved....he seems to be distant from the station in every way. I was thinking that I have always been told "Breakfast is the shop window for the station" but nothing from this breakfast show makes me think that. It seems totally detached from the rest of the output.

I saw that, and did think that fancy dress wouldn't really by Chris's thing. To be fair, the majority of Global's breakfast presenters weren't involved - no Nick Ferrari, Russ Williams, Tim Lihoreau, Jez Welham or Tony Dibbin either.

He was saying yesterday that he was in some lift video they had done for it.

It was just Chris and Pippa this morning as Dom and Dave were both off. They seemed to find this quite stressful, but I actually thought it sounded quite good - a decent back-and-forth rather than a zoo.
