It was just Chris and Pippa this morning as Dom and Dave were both off. They seemed to find this quite stressful, but I actually thought it sounded quite good - a decent back-and-forth rather than a zoo.
did they have no news ?

Have you visited the chrismoyles.net website, I've been downloading his old shows on radio 1 from 2008 etc.

I like Dev isn't the best but has lots of enthusiasm. Reckon hed be a good bloke to have a pint with. He is a bit of Radio geek so can appreciate how good Moyles is.

I wonder if he has any contact with his old colleagues, mentioned he bumped into Grimmy a few times. Pippa probably still in Contact with Greg James.

Sara Cox has tweeted Chris I think.

Radio is a very small industry, and the dangers of burning bridges are well understood. As much as people might slag off the competition on air, everyone gets that it's all an act.

I remember Hirsty regularly posting photos of breakfast jocks from several stations owned by different companies going out for a curry.

I think the manner in which Moyles left Radio 1 says a lot about the respect the BBC have for him - at a lot of other places people are told when they come off air that they've just done their last show.

I don't known if the Stephen Nolan interview is anywhere to listen back to, but I seem to remember him saying they only wanted to give him a couple of days notice, but he went down the road of having been there for 15 years and given them the best figures in years, at least give him the decency of a good send off.

Edit: slightly misremembered it but I found the interview! The BBC wanted to announce it on the news but they let him make the announcement on the show. That bits about 9 minutes in

The rants are becoming more frequent, am not sure if they have the same impact as Radio 1.

The show is definitely sounding better since he returned from his sumemr break. Nice to see they are getting some high profile guests.

No news of another road trip, with 02, be nice if they can do this again, try get some outside broadcasts from around the country like Johnny Vaughan.

Loved his 'Nobody hates you more than you do' calming down routine, hope he found is safe place.

That was a great line. It will be interesting to see if he gets his shutters or door.

The rants are fast becoming the saving grace of the show. Exemplified no better than the content that directly preceded this morning's one. Moyles used talk about it being windy lately to play more fart noises. That isn't funny. It just isn't. Who are they targeting with that output?

Eh? What an unbelievably dull and smug thing to say.

Ken is great, but radio would be very boring indeed if every presenter was the same as him. The fact that Chris Moyles is so different to Ken Bruce is a huge part of his appeal. You might believe that one style is superior to the other but that is completely objective. Anyone can 'rant', but the trick lies in making it entertaining.

And your point about Ken having 8 million listeners as if that somehow makes him better is completely flawed. Ken has built up an audience over 30 years on a station that appeals to a huge demographic. Chris Moyles has been on an indie rock station which you can only get on DAB in most of the county for just over 12 months, and that is after a 3 year break.
