You get the feeling on Radio X that no-one is actually saying "Right, what is this show about? Who is listening to it? And, you know, just there to go "You are a bloody great broadcaster but here's a few things that could just work a bit better".
The problem is, Global isn't really set up for someone like Moyles. It's not as simple as playing 54,000 songs in a row, there are really clever people in there who know how to get radio stations on target and know what to say and when to say it, all the while still making some cash. They know what they're doing with strictly focused brands which are going for happy cheery DJs first thing in the morning then a ton of songs and are aimed at a certain segment of the population.
They haven't really known what to do with Radio X from day one, hence the confusing get into the music branding for a station which has just hired a DJ who constantly talks. They haven't managed to match the part where they get a hugely in-demand radio host who still has a big fanbase and align it with attracting a certain type of listener who they can then sell to advertisers.
My penny for the thoughts of some of the really interesting informative Global insiders who used to hang about here.”

I meant do his own thing as in playlist selection. He may keep saying 'Choon', but you know he just wants to expand the bloody awful playlist.
On reflection I agree with you on the lack of direction from above. Give Moyles parameters and let him push them.
