Great shows until he was ill last week and weds on were a hard listen
This week started ok then Thursday show (the after party) well, loved the first half hour , then what happened ? It seems it's all becoming who was drunk, Proseco, who felt drunk, Proseco, who's drinking next, Proseco, who's 'giddy' , Proseco.
And it's becoming a theme. Dreary (as Steve Allen would say).

I download show for a listen the day after and still use podcast for the OLD brekky show )

Seems like cabin fever has set in

I think the whole Christmas party thing & the hangover thing is absolutely fine and starting late is no issue either. Quite liked that the said they did the 30 minutes first so you hear the difference in the team before/after the party! Also there are millions of people in the country at the moment going out for their Christmas parties that will relate to what Chris & the team are talking about!
The fact it was Pippa's birthday the day before wan't an issue for me either really.

The only thing I'm finding a bit odd is the alcohol being drunk during the show.

Pippa & her Prosecco was fine if they gave her A bottle at the start of the show & she enjoyed it throughout at whatever pace she wanted to. But they did seem yo want her to get drunk, supplied more for her to carry on drinking with & encouraged her to down some so they could refill. It just seemed jarring on a show that is on at that time in the morning.
Don't mind hearing about the events or parties they've been at the previous night, it's what everyone does occasionally & in media probably way more often. Pippa's stories are generally amusing & bemusing in equal quantities!

The whiskey advent calendar I'm not 100% comfortable with either. Again it just seems jarring for this time in the morning

Don't like to drag on about the past but the show is missing a good comedy writer I.e comedy dave, obviously it's unlikely he'll ever return given how things ended on radio 1, but someone with better comedy writing that dave masterman is needed.

I think this has been the best week of the show on Radio X so far.

Usually a lot of criticism but just wanted to say this week was good one for shows
Less about drinking , enjoyable listen. CHRIS seems relaxed, ready for holiday break, Thanks

Chris mentioned his 52 hour marathon show last week.

I'd wonder how many "celeb" signings we're likely to see in future (outside of breakfast/drive), given the station isn't the runaway success that was perhaps expected. Vernon must be getting quite a wedge, but does he really bring anyone into the station?
No he's awful, the first hour of his show all he does is play music, he may as well just phone it in for the amount of effort he puts in

I've been listening a lot more the past few weeks while I get ready for work. Dominic the Donkey made me smile this morning.

Dominic as Yoda was pretty interesting and the Prosecco Game outside the studio was a laugh. I do hope that they'll come up with more outside games in 2017.

Sounds as if Moyles has well and truly fallen out of favour at Radio 1. "The Chris Moyles Show" was behind window 24 of Scott Mills' "who-vent calendar" today...

Probably just a bit of banter from Scott, cheekily mentioning a former presenter that are usually erased from memory, on the day none of the bosses are in

This is absolutely brilliant but is so true Chris is no longer relevant.

Fascinated to hear how that played out. Was that during the Bangers show, and how far in roughly?

Moyles isn't really in a position to take a high ground given he's taken the piss out of Steve Penk on numerous occasions. Fair play for going there - I suppose the fact he was number 24 in a complisult way suggests putting him in there was a bit of a deal (24 being the biggest deal on an advent calendar, as Scott has referred to in the past).

It was around 3:45, just before Kelly Clarkson. Scott didn't know what was in the calendar though so it would have been his producers who chose to put Moyles in there. I think his current producer used to work with Christian O'Connell, maybe there's some beef there...

Surely Mills knew?

It was funny although seemed a little mean spirited, after all Mills is the same age as Moyles and it could just as easily have been him who is now suffering in digital radio obscurity. I'm guessing that Mills resents Moyles a little bit. Mills is the best R1 presenter never to have had a regular stint on breakfast and that is down to Moyles, who also would have earned more than him during the "get up with Moyles, get home with Mills" era.

On a side note, what a great joy that R1 bangers show was! A lot a great music played which is usually lost in that no man's land between R1 and R2. Mills definitely has a future presenting a late 90s/00s pop show on R2, he has a fine knowledge of that music which is wasted at present.

Was just a bit of banter and in a way a good way to pay tribute to a fab breakfast show especially compared to the current one. I think they should move Grimmy to another slot and let Scott do breakfast as his last hurrah on Radio 1 before Greg takes over

I think if you're appointing for breakfast ideally you want someone who's gonna be able to do around 5 years or so. I'm not sure if Mills has that long left.

I wouldn't say 5 years but like give Scott a 6 month or so spell like Sara did for her farewell at Radio 1

Thanks for the tip on the time. To be fair, Chris Moyles is a "who?" for Radio 1 listeners these days. He's gone from one of the biggest stations in the world to a reboot of XFM which has potential to build an audience but won't even match the likes of Heart/Capital etc, and one that clearly targets an older audience. And like I say, Moyles has taken the piss out of plenty of people over the years, he's not really in a position to complain about this.

There's no point in moving Mills to breakfast now - if they were going to do it they'd have done it when Moyles left. They must now be looking to slowly nudge him towards Radio 2. He's done a good job of reinventing himself a little with the likes of Chris Stark and has a bit of time left. I'd imagine a nudge to weekends, and a few tryouts on Radio 2, may be a good move.

The problem is that Radio 2 has a horribly imbalanced roster (100% blokes) so when Ken Bruce moves I'm quite sure they'll want to move the likes of Sara Cox or Fearne Cotton in, so it's tricky to see where he fits on daytime in the short term. But if he was willing to shift along to a less prominent position on Radio 1 at some point I don't think there's any real rush to drop him.

Chris is not happy with K Hopkins (is anyone?)

There could be a rather frosty atmosphere at no 30 soon.

Is this not the sort of thing that could get a presenter suspended? I'd like to believe that Global have some form of moral compass.

Considering the sort of thing LBC regular Farage has been getting away with lately, I'm going to go with 'No'.
