Chase & Status just been played, does that count?
There's no year or anything like that, it's just music The Platinum hour is just the normal Radio X stuff with the new music dropped for an hour, so doesn't really sound any different the the rest of the output. Nice to hear Moyles doing a more music focused hour to show he is good at that format also, but they either need to bring back guess the year or play some more unusual stuff for X to make it different to the rest of the musical output on the station. Interesting that Vernon appears to be allowed one indie dance track to start his show each day, now playing Leftfield. X needs to drop in the occasional surprise track just to very the music the bit and make it now sound too indie. |

I have listened all week and I have to say this morning at half 8 was the first time I have laughed and thought "Bloody good that"
The fake contest where she had already won was excellent, high fives all round. Now here is an interesting bit: So as I left my house this morning a car drove by playing Chris Moyles (on FM round here so nothing major about that) but then whilst at the cash point the guy behind me was also listening on his mobile (loudspeaker....why do people do this???) Imagine that! Someone gone out of their way to listen |

I caught the last 15 mins and I agree that the Platinum Hour would be even better with some other genres of music.

I have posted this in the other thread.
I am nearly 60 and have no idea whether I am supposed to be the target audience, but I know several friends of my age have switched over to listen to both CM and JV. Despite all Mr Moyles's protestations about it not being 'Radio Bloke', I'm afraid it is Chris - and it is fabulous. . I too wonder how many switch off at 1000 - I know I do. The Muse quiz with the Scottish lady was a little cruel, but great radio. The last hour was almost like he had delved into my record collection and picked a lot of my favourites. |

I sadly missed the Platinum Hour - but, from looking at the playlist, I can see why some people are saying that it wasn't that different from the rest of the playlist.
The tracks look great - and generally a fair bit older than the music they play the rest of the time. But, on Radio 1, there would have been more of a contrast with the 'new music' playlist in the rest of the show. On another playlist-related note, I see that Chris played 6 tracks in the 7am hour, and 5 in the 8am hour today. That sounds like quite a lot for him! |

What made the Golden hour on Radio 1 special is you knew you were getting an hour of songs you wouldn't normally hear during the week on Radio 1. It stood out because it played different music.

What they could do is play the songs that are on the exposed show at night on the Chris Moyles Gordon Hour, Good promotion for those smaller songs on that show which only usually gets played at night.

Have to say I'm really pissed that Comedy Dave appears to have been erased from Chris Moyles Show history...someone that was as big a part of the show as Chris and just seems to have been as I said been erased from memory. Wonder are guests and callers instructed not to mention him on air?

But I can't see the point in the new Dave even been in the studio, he's like a damp squid and hardly says anything in fact he sounds like a right bore. Dom is doing brilliant and really showing himself for a brilliant radio guy. |

I think the nickname 'Madam' also came out of desperation to give him a nickname. Its a crap nickname. |

But what is Chris supposed to do? He and Comedy Dave aren't friends anymore, and Comedy Dave didn't want to return, we all have to move on... No point in constantly reminiscing, we just have to move on unfortunaltly. |

For those waiting... The Chris Moyles Show podcast is now available on iTunes! It's weekly every Friday, free, and appears to be about 50 minutes in duration.

Ad break length
I've enjoyed the first week. A real shake up of what we're used to at breakfast.
It will be interesting to hear how the show sounds in a few weeks. XFM had very light ad loads, as the station wasn't performing as well in the commercial marketplace. Ad breaks are currently under 2 mins on Radio X Expect them to rise to up to 3/4 mins each when the station audience grows, and that's a lot of talk/adverts It won't sound as unobtrusive as it does currently in 6 months time. They need to monetise the station, so it's inevitable. |

Down the pub and just saw the Chris Moyles Radio X advert during the interval of the England Wales rugby match on TV. Bunch of lads in the crowd gave a cheer and chanted "Moylesy Moylesy" !!!

![]() Very impressive for Radio X in their first week... Absolute currently advertise their Frank Skinner Show podcast (which is brilliant) as ‘the most listened to commercial radio podcast’... I think they might have to change that now. |

I find it a little embarrassing that Chris is asking companies to bring stuff to the studio like freebies and that. It's something you would hear on a small community or local station with skint presenters wanting a little freebie. He's been asking today and last week as well.
I'm also wondering if Global have much bigger plans for Moyles, similar to what Absolute are doing across all the Absolute stations at breakfast. Could it be possible that Moyles might broadcast on say Radio X, Capital and Heart at the same time via the Global Network? |

But Moyles could be networked on Smooth, Capital Xtra and Classic FM as these are national, just playing different tracks for each station like they do on Absolute that could work. His visits to the Smooth and Classic FM studios over the last week are getting the listeners introduced to him so they know who he is when he starts presenting their breakfast shows too. |

No Radio X is national, Capital and Heart are local stations with separate breakfast programs for each area. They are not able to network at breakfast or drive as a condition of their licences.

His visits to the Smooth and Classic FM studios over the last week are getting the listeners introduced to him so they know who he is when he starts presenting their breakfast shows too. This means in effect a network breakfast in the areas where this could be allowed (ie Yorkshire/Manc/Brum Captial from Leicester Sq. etc) Heart and Capital is a hybrid local/regional network. Whist I think Ofcom might well go all 'Paisley' on the local stations, a precedent has been set for the regionals with the Radio X network becoming a de-facto national station. |
