There shouldn't be hysterical reactions to anything really, but it goes both ways. Security issue with Android, apple fans going crazy saying how unsecure Android is etc. Apple security issue, Android fans going crazy saying how unsecure it is.

The difference i have noticed is, apple fans on a security issue with apple always try to dumb it down claiming there is no issue.

Yeah, Google can remove apps downloaded from their store remotely. It's been done before. I'm not overly sure if they can remove apps from 3rd party stores. I'm not even sure apple can do that either.
I have raised issues about android before. Mainly because I have no faith that they can roll out any security fixes because I still have 2 Samsung android phones which have never received any. However, let's stick to the issue Apple have.

I trust them to fix it.

What evidence is that? Cant say ive seen any apart from apple as always not saying a word about it!
Well on "Bendgate" for example a very few real people managed to (somehow!) bend their new iPhone 6's and this created 100s (or more!) of hysterical posts here. As it all died away pretty quickly most people now seem to regard it as a scare/non-issue (and Apple did not have to recall or change the handset!)

On this issue there have been no reports of any impact to any end-users at all!

Well this new 'no problem' highlights that apps can be more dangerous than the web, apps having less limitation.

Web stuff relies on flaws in a browser and its add-ons, thus have more limitations than apps. These app developers had no malicous intent, that is the one positive here.

What do you mean by 'no problem'? Why do you think it isn't a problem?

This is a problem but more of a minor inconvenience in the real world.

It's an ingenious hack but in the end the fact that Apple have the walled garden means it should be pretty easy for them to fix.

Naturally there is the hysterical response from the usual obsessive Apple haters on here

No such things! You cannot sideload Apps on IOS - everything is from the App Store.
So you can't install apps via cydia when jailbroken no?

Well, I still dont buy into the idea that all these developers downloaded and did not check the file hashes.

Obviously, getting an xcode that just works on a Hackintosh is what so so many people will do , students and contractors especially so.

I'm sure the Hackintosh has been a big positive for Apple, getting thousands developing for Apple devices, and who otherwise would never had bothered.

What's with the use of the word hysterical when people discuss something gone wrong with apple? Yet when something happens on android its not?

Bendgate was an issue for some yes, not all. However it prompted apple to use a better grade of aluminium for the new iphone. So they must have thought it an issue to do that.

On this issue, not yet. Or not that we know of yet. There are no issues yet reported on the MMS issue on android. But that didn't stop apple fans from (I'll do it now) being hysterical over the issue.

Well let's assume for one minute your theory is true and that 'thousands' of developers are using a hackintosh.

What has that got to do with them using a hacked copy of Xcode? Why would they not be able to validate the checksum?

You will not give up on this notion that both ecosystems are equally at risk. Putting aside any intrinsic O/S walled garden advantages, the fact that after only 3 days 50% of IOS devices are running IOS 9 speaks volumes. Even when Android is patched it doesn't reach the users that need it for many months if ever.

The only reason this became news is that it is cloned malware.

Most malware stuff just gets deleted , it not being in the developers or Apples interests to tell us. That is exactly what happened when this first kicked off in May.

Those supposed security companies only discovered the clones, not new malware.
You will likely never hear about individual unique malwares.
