Going to discuss nomination spoilers, and the vile nastiness Austin spewed last night so turn back now if you don't want to know... and part of me really wishes I hadn't read it so...

So, last night after it was revealed that James nominated both Austin and Jenna they obviously got into a tizzy over it. James, despite continually telling them how he didn't respect their actions, was enemy number one. Austin accused him of choosing Janice once again, and drinking the Kool-aid, while Jenna just mumbled fake-bitch-ass-whatever over and over. This post isn't about whether you agree with James' decision over not. This has to do with Austin coming into the bedroom where Janice was consoling James, and speaking to her in a way that NO ONE should ever be spoken to. Certainly not over a GAME that they have all already been paid to be on.

Quotes from the very one-sided lambasting...

Austin to Janice:

"You are a terrible example of a women and a mother. Your children would be so embarrassed. You’re f*cking the worst excuse for a women ever... [Janice gives him the middle finger]... You’re such a good mother to throw your middle finger up on National Television. You f*cking embarrassment of a mother. You should be ashamed.”

[Janice turns around and pulls the duvet over her while Austin continues.]

“That’s right, I didn’t think you had anything to say, you stupid c*nt. What an embarrassment to society. Run around with your tits out, and you’re spreading your legs. You’re just such a nasty excuse for a woman…miserable…who has to pop from reality show to reality show like you do to f*cking get a pay check. Get a job, learn a trade, get some education, you stupid f*cking bitch.

What an awesome guy right? Not misogynistic at all. Not cruel or vile or... oh wait. He's all of those things. Keep in mind he's saying all this with Jenna in the room. How does Jenna not call him out for those comments basically saying Janice is a whore for posing topless, etc. Jenna is porn star, and has no shame about it (which she shouldn't), and yet she doesn't utter a word. It's Natasha and James who once again have to step in.

Austin eventually goes into the Diary room, and spews some more crap about Janice needing to be "tied up and lashed". Guessing BB talks some sense into him (less all the other HM's self evict to get away), and he comes back crying that he was wrong, but he was hurt BLAH BLAH BLAH. Austin tells people to act like grown ups when he probably hasn't a day in his damn life. That kind of cruel, vitriolic behavior does not just appear because you're hurt. When he gets worked up he let's the nice guy mask fall, and shows the complete ugliness beneath.

Simply put, he's a bad person.

I don't think Janice is a saint. I don't think Jenna is either. Or James. Or Bobby. Or Farrah. I simply think out of every HM this year, and maybe every year I've watched, Austin is the nastiest. The fact that he could actually say those things to anyone disgusts me. Especially someone who isn't fighting back. James is right. He's let his family down, and as a fellow American I hope he stays in the UK. I honestly felt sick reading his tirade to Janice. She's totally looney tunes, but did not deserve that at all.

Come at me Austin fans. I really want to know how people can justify this, and please don't use the tired excuse of 'well Janice/James/whoever did this..." I'm not talking about them or their behavior. I'm talking about Austin's actions. His words. His nastiness.

"Come at me Austin fans."

That's a good way to start a reasonable discussion.

Why so angry?

No reason to make excuses Austin knows that he was in the wrong.

However after an emotional chat with Big Brother, Austin walks back into the living area, crying and apologises to the other Housemates by telling them that he is really hurt, “I feel like an a**hole.”

Austin apologises, “that was bang out of order to say those things. I’m not going to make excuses, it was f**ked up and inappropriate by any means that is an understatement. It’s absolutely the last things that should have come out my mouth.”

From Austin's point of view it's just as well it's not a 'vote to evict' ... or he'd be a gonner

It's a vote to save though, and there will be some people who can't stand Janice and will have thought his rant towards her was 'good TV'

There will be others who will think his outburst was really about how deeply he was hurt at James' betrayal of their friendship, and that he raged at/ blamed Janice, rather than acknowledge to himself that James is the one who has shat on him

I don't think he'll go before the final

We see. From the spoilers it looks like we learn more about his personal life that explains his behaviour.

No coming at ya! Agree - he's a lowlife and frankly, I would be more than happy if he were ejected for that. Wish Janice would put a complaint in!

Why would she ? ... he's the only one who makes her relevant

Without Austin, Janice would have faded into the background like a confused old biddy who everyone 'tolerated'

Good God! I am appalled.

I can't imagine any context to excuse a rant so disgraceful. Temporary insanity maybe?

IS the source reliable? If so he has cooked his goose good and proper hasn't he. I wonder why he has it in for Janice with such venom.

I don't think Austin is a bad person. I don't think anyone in there is a bad person. I disliked Farrah immensely, but she wasn't a bad person. I've met bad people and Austin (from what I know of him anyway) is not a bad person.

No one is excusing the kind of language he used. As I said in another thread, I hate that they use curse words, actions and personal information when fighting with their other housemates. There's been a lot of it in there this series and none of it is justified or acceptable.

I just think he has his issues and that explains how he reacted (again from what we know from spoilers). As much as adults shouldn't regress to children, I think that house has a certain intensifying nature that can and does do that. That does not mean it excuses them. I don't think anyone is saying that Janice had that coming and I'm certainly not a proponent for retaliation, no matter how they've treated each other in there.

I think with Austin, he's like a frightened animal. I don't think he's a master manipulator or would do anything premeditated to hurt people. It's pure instinct and impulse. I can imagine the nominations are going to be a huge kick in the teeth for him and that's why he was so venomous.

Again, not excusing his behaviour, I just don't think it makes him a bad person, just a person who behaved badly.

Never as angry as you judging by the number of ???? in your query.

And no, while Austin was totally out of order and should be, and I think is, deeply ashamed of himself and his total loss of self-control - I don't think even his closest family would suggest otherwise - it doesn't make me angry since it's a RTV show in which people, under pressure, behave very badly for our entertainment, rather than a news bulletin dealing with real things and real life and things that matter.

No I agree with you there. A bad person and a person with bad behaviour are not necessarily the same thing. I am not sure I buy Austin as a frightened animal. I thought that applied to Farrah but not so much Austin. But there must be some explanation for such outrageous disgusting behaviour. Not an excuse, if this is all true there is no excuse I can think of that would justify it. But I would like to know the reasons for it.

I don't think he has it in for Janice to that extent, she is who he choose to take it out on otherwise he would have to face the reality of his relationship with James. I think Austin was in a blind rage because he was deeply hurt. Some people say some awful things when they are hurt.

I'm not buying that. Austin has been being vile to Janice for a long time.

And he's taken his frustration and anger out on James, a lot.

James isn't having any, he's tried long and hard enough to stop Austin acting the fool and making himself look bad, but got nothing but abuse for his pains.

And now he's 'hurt', so he has another and the most vile go at Janice?

He should be ejected whether she complains or not. How low can Ch5 go to allow that on the screen?

Exactly this. Blind, disbelieving, bewildered, devastated rage that occurs in this sort of environment and for which there is both no excuse and the excuse that all normal perspective goes out the window.

And desperately mortifying and sobering for him in the aftermath.

And Janice, based on a clip of her greeting a new day, happy to put it under some type of bridge.

I actually didn't mean to type frightened, I meant wounded (it's been a long day...). A little like one of those dogs that has been used for badger baiting etc.

He's obviously had some bad things happen and is struggling to over come them. I think in the real world these things are hard enough to get through, even with friends and family and the normal everyday distractions. It must be hell in there if you have something like that playing on your mind. I don't know if it's true, so I'm just speculating, but I'm sure it's been alluded to in a certain way on live feed that he suffers from anxiety, which is an awful, awful condition. I think when he's hurt, he attacks.

Through most of the time, he seems fun, content, smart, kind and accepting. I genuinely like him as a contestant. I just think that if he's hurt by something he attacks as a way to try and push away the hurt. A sort of self preservation mechanism. I've got a little girl in my class. Brilliant worker, sweet, funny, but if she feels she's being picked on, or gets paranoid that people are negative about her, then she'll just lash out. She gave one of my other pupil's a black eye the other day. I know it's different because she's a child, but if anyone doesn't get help for things like this then they can manifest. It makes me feel sorry for them more than anything. It's not just about telling someone to stop a certain behaviour, it's trying to find a way for them to manage and control it.

Again, not justifying his, Farrah's, Janice's or anyone else in there who has reacted badly to a situation. I would not or have not excused that sort of language or behaviour from anyone in there. I just think it's more interesting to think about why, and have a shred of empathy than just get the pitchforks and torches out.

I partly agree. However I feel he had an issue with Janice right back on day 1 or 2.

I do however think that his feelings for James and his issues with Janice are all wrapped up together. I have been musing for a day or two that he may have or think he has, feelings for James that go beyond just friends. I can easily conceive of an infatuation growing in the set up of the house and a shared intense experience. In my musings I have wondered if James has started to worry that Austin is developing feelings that he can never reciprocate and he is maybe panicking or trying to push Austin away from that path, But this is absolute conjecture on my part. I have no evidence for my theory from what we have seen on screen.
