What's with all the hidden spoilers, I thought it was accepted that as it's less than 24 hrs between US and UK showings, you shouldn't really open this thread until you have seen the episode.
Anyway, great episode, Rick firmly back in charge, some great Eugene one liners, a bit soapy in places, might watch again later.

This joint US and UK pace thread caused it's fair share of arguments and confusion last series.

Can't be bothered starting a US pace one again after that thread starter decided that their thread should be the only one and mine merged with it. Charming.

A thrilling return

How very dare Carter talk back to Rick. It was never going to end well. But I thought it ended appropriately. Morgan seemed to begrudge Rick his "I told you so moment". I didn't. Looks like Rick and Morgan may be too far apart now. I reckon Morgan would be a better fit to manage civilian life in Alexandria, Rick should be handling external "military" operations.

After spending a season being closed off to people, Enid decided to hold hands with Carl. Since she's apparently just decided to live again, I'd say her death is imminent.

Eugene's hair fixation continues to amuse me....

Carol to Morgan, after he clocked her game: "You're the sweetest....." He better watch himself, no stick is going to stop Carol.

Why did Rick expect such a complicated plan to succeed with that bunch of untrained Alexandria no-hopers? They panicked in the face of few walkers, nevermind thousands. Really? The reason for it's failure may, or may not be their fault, but still....

Thoroughly entertaining.

Probably should have watched the previous finale before watching that as there were a couple of things I couldn't remember how they happened.

1. Why was Tara in the hospital?
2.Exactly how did the fight between Glen and the other guy finish up?

I was expecting Rick's plan to end with the Walkers being destroyed in some way rather than just leading the Herd 20 miles away as that still leaves the chance of something turning them around at some point.

1. Tara got knocked out back in episode 14 after Aiden shot the grenade on the solodier walker.
2. Glenn spared Nicholas as he didn't have it in him to pull the trigger.

I don't think they needed to make the flashbacks black and white, it's easy to work out whats a flashback and whats present. I feel like it didn't work in TWD.

Surprised they killed off Carter so quickly, when I read that the actor was joining the show I thought he'd be in it for at least a few episodes..

I love love love love that Heath has been introduced, he looks like comic Heath so much

Carol and Morgan exchange was funny, I was kinda wondering where Carol was for most of the episode then I remembered she's busy playing house.

Good episode but I missed Nick and Strand.....

Thanks.

For some reason I thought the last thing we saw of the fight was Glenn being attacked by a Walker.

I wasn't keen on the B&W flashbacks, thought they were doing a 'Night of the Living Dead' homage at first.

I also didn't like the way Morgan was upset about Rick killing Carter. Carter had been bitten badly and was making noise that would have attracted to zombies, so he did what most people would have done.

But I did like the quarry full of zombies, must have been loads of extras there.

Read somewhere that the B&W was a throw back to the comics.

Oh yes, I read that too, thanks for reminding me. Haven't read the comics so haven't seen the B&W parts.

He wasn't upset over him killing Carter, he was upset because the way things are in their world meant he had to kill him. He said to Michonne, "I know it's how it is, I do!"

We need split threads, no UK person can come here until after the episode, we need one where we can comment if we wish to during the episode
I will make one next week I think.

Maybe make it an as it happens in episode discussion thread then.
There's no point trying to duplicate this thread. People watch TWD at any time, catch up, recorded etc. and should come in here after they have seen it, if they are that worried about spoilers.

Sorry for my lack of detail, but does anyone else start thinking, like me, that there has been a 'specific zombie' I've seen in every series?
He got a close up in the parade towards the latter part of the episode.
I swear he keeps popping up!

That was a strange to do........no mention in Radio times that the episode was 75 minutes.

It was only the lack of credits at the 10 pm advert break that stopped me turning over......:I could have missed the last 15 minutes.......

I was a bit confused a first as I'd clearly forgotten how the last series ended and even who some of the people are. And the jumping backwards and forwards in time.

Who was Eugene boozing over in the body bag at the beginning ?

What happened between Glenn and the curly haired bloke ?

I'm liking the new character 'Heath'

Good episode though in the end........

They all start to look the same to me!

Mixed feelings about that episode from me.

I'm starting to really like Eugene and Abraham (I don't want Eugene to come to any harm EVER!) Where was Aaron?

actually it was Abraham boozing over the body not Eugene ........would either of them get drunk over Reg's body ?

They weren't big mates or anything.......I assumed it must be one of Rick's gang who was dead...........

And can anyone remember why Carol is playing the Stepford Wife ?.......it's a terrific turn of events but I can't remember what brought it on.......

I was expecting more from this opening here, it wasn't bad by any means, but I was still expecting more - and I wasn't too keen on the black and white flashbacks. I think I get why they did that (to show the audience that it was flashbacks) but most people should have been able to work that out for themselves.

What got me though, was the stupidity. They had an army of zombies trapped, and it's their genius idea to let them out and then lead them out of the area rather than dealing with them.

Step #1: Reinforce the blockade.
Step #2: Build Bombs

Between the people of Alexandria, Daryl's crossbow and a various supplies, I find it hard to imagine that a few explosives couldn't have been created to deal with that army, heck, our survivors could have even dug some holes between the current blockage and Alexandria for the undead to fall into - then set them ablaze.

The whole concept of lets lead them all 20-30 miles out so that they're safe is madness. Especially when it wouldn't take too much noise to have them all turn around again.

And that alarm? My money's on the kid.

CGI
all of the "many zombie" shots were digital enhanced composite shots, i noticed a copy shot in one shot

nice episode to start with, totally confusing at the start with it's mixed up narrative, but once you got into it you really followed it nicely.

oh boy, that plan was going soooooooooo well too .....

Of course it was Abraham - didn't spot that in the poster's post. I still think it was Reg though - the wedding ring and everything.

Carol - surely the best form of attack is surprise and as long as she still carries on as the Stepford Wife - the more of a surprise her turnaround will be. Morgan seems to have cottoned on to it though.

I think one of my main problems with this episode was there wasn't enough Carol.

I'll stick with it a little longer - I want to find out who is sounding that horn - but I really do think they've gone as far as they can with TWD now.
