Correct me if I am way off the mark here, but Is Alexandria the estate in Fear the walking dead ? It was mentioned in this episode that Reg started the plans on the walls before the virus properly took holdof everything...in FTWD they got lucky as their 'town/ estate ' was sectioned off with barriers and large walls....
just a thought..or are they located in totally different areas ?
Totally different part of the country.

Fear is set in Los Angeles (West Coast) while Alexandria is just outside Washington DC (East Coast).

Personally I loved the episode, the length, the B&W, new characters , old characters, geez this show keeps me on the edge of my seat. I never want it to end

I'm confused that people dislike even this episode, maybe you need to stop watching because I think this show gets better and better

Cant wait for next weeks episode!
Same here. I was confused as hell at first but it soon became obvious. Well, I'm still a bit confused but overall it was gripping stuff. You know it's good when you go 'Ahhhh nooo!!' when the episode ends! Is the horn sounding something to do with those guys herding them into the trucks from last series, the ones who presumably are marking them with the V? Love this show so much.

Did anyone see Rosita in this episode? I don't remember seeing her in the present, and wondered if it was her in the bag Abe was carrying.

Loved the exchange between Morgan and Michonne about the energy bar, although I'm sure that she was actually eating his crackers in Clear not some powerbar.

As for the rest, I'll have to watch again, disliked the B&W.
I think she did eat it. I vaguely remember the repeat on one night.

Speaking of repeat; while watching repeat I took notice of the herd for anomolies and noticed at least one fresh-ish walker, a woman who's clothes were cleaner and her arms still pinky. Wonder where/when she died, likely recently. She was at the outside of the herd as they were herding them. Considering the tatters of them all, I'd say it was deliberate by the show makers to hint there's other groups/people closer by. There may have been more fresher ones but I was surfing the net, not really paying attention.

The silver eyes are the ones carrying that disease that triggers the fever, giving them the fever that essentially spreads without biting, quickly killing and turning people. It basically killed off a huge chunk of those at the prison in season four. OF COURSE it was never confirmed to be the silver eye that caused it, just hinted at. I think whatever it had even one of the pigs caught it (memory is fuzzy). I'm sure even Kirkman himself mentioned special zombies (likely this) in an interview. I've searched myself...I can't find any mention of this ANYWHERE. Did I watch an episode from an alternate universe or something...?

NOTE; did try editing but time had ran out.

It turns out they're "bloody eyed" walkers. No idea why I remembered them as silver eyed ones (shrugs, sorry for the mix up). They're basically carriers of a disease that induces a fever that quickly kills and turns. So killing one is likely to get you sprayed by fluids and infected (the fever disease, not the Z disease...not that it matters, same end result. Though this fever IS survivable).

It's also possible it's a disease spread initially by pigs, and that the "bloody eyed" walker at the fence was a local who'd eaten one, got the fever and turned. THOUGH...if it was the pigs who gave it to people, surely everyone would have caught it? Likely no way to know, as I doubt it will be revisited.

There are no special zombies, whatever caused the original outbreak wasn't caused by special ones, it was a worldwide release of something either on purpose or by mistake. People got infected with it and died, the weak essentially, and that was the beginning of the end.

Yes, I am confused, but loved the episode.
My daughter will be watching it today, so I will get her to explain the truck and what was going on in the first scenes.

Wasn't that just a regular flu or something, that killed some in the prison in season three?

I thought Fear was set in Los Angeles and Walking Dead was more around the southern states. No doubt other communities were also sectioned off at the start.

I spent most of that first episode trying to spot zombified members of the Fear cast...

I enjoy the series a lot.

But, and it's a big but, more and more of the narrative is driven by
"let's do something really stupid".

Rick shot the only doctor, people would have shot him instead in a heartbeat, I would have.
So when do we see the follow up and one of the mainstays really needs a doctor?

The zombies were in the quarry, and had been for years(?), but within a day of them first being seen, the barricade that's keeping them there is breached, while they are watching??
Come on...............

It all seems to be going a bit "the only way to survive is to kill lots and lots of people".
So far Rick and his little gang have spread death and mayhem wherever they end up. The baddies have had to be painted more and more "bad" because the contrast with Rick et all is one that Rick wouldn't necessarily win if it were judged on "who keeps more non zombies alive".

Alexandria was doing pretty well........then they bumped into Rick.
The head woman lost her son and huband within days.
Nonsense about a battered wife that ends up with the DOCTOR husband being shot.
A silly plan to get a machine part killed off a few.
Ordered to repair/build some new wall, that killed a few more.

Seriously, if it's up to Rick, humanity is doomed.
I absolutely agree. Why are they all willingly led by Rick? He takes some stupid decisions sometimes. Kicking Carol out was one of them. He has a baby, and lets everyone else look after her, it seems.

And, killing the doctor was beyond dumb. I bet everyone would have even sacrified Jessie in order to have a doctor. Was it confirmed that he was a wife beater? Rick has two children, hopefully they will stay healthy.

Also when you go 'it can't be over already'

I agree expectations are always high with a show of this calibre, but I've never been disappointed by it.

I don't see why they'd have to watch the boss lady because of that. Maggie was being nice and saying they needed to look after her while she was still in shock and grieving over the death of her husband, and I figured the other reason was in case she turned on them, as she had just before he died.
No, it would be another reason for her to stay behind, not another reason for her to watch Deanna.

Maybe the quarry was the Wolves 'holding pen' where they kept the zombies until they needed them (for whatever reason they need them !)

So perhaps the horn is actually coming from the quarry where the Wolves are trying to get their zombies back. They would probably be unaware of Rick's plan and just think the Zs had escaped because the wall was breached when the lorry fell off the perimeter

It was in the episode Clear, season 3. Apparently it was a very crunchy protein bar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXV6R1I5Ccw

Yes he used to beat his wife and child. Would you seriously save him over anyone else purely because he's a doctor?

This morning I drove behind a massive lorry with 'Walker Logistics' in huge letters across the length of it. Wouldn't this have been an excellent truck to use as one of the barriers in the quarry?

I was wondering if it's the wolves again or if the priest has lost the plot again

Yes. I would choose him over any other adult.

But it does not need to come to that.
It would not be difficult for a whole locked community, to make him understand that if he touches his wife or children again, they will torture him, and then let him out without weapons.

Since he is abusive, and the whole community desperately need him, they must come up with a plan.

Very good episode I thought. The horn really threw me just as it all looked good.
Can't wait to see who has set it off.

But couldn't they have just set fire to the walkers. They are all wearing tatty clothes so would have mostly all burnt. Or maybe secure the exit. I think the group need to find a tall building or island to move to. Walkers can't swim or climb particularly well.

But didn't the doctor - Pete - kill Reg by slitting his throat with Michonne's sword? then when Rick pulled his gun out, Deanna said "Do it" (OWTTE).

Why are you thinking Rick killed him just because he was a wife beater?

Would the walkers have died if, as some are suggesting, they set fire to them?

They don't appear to die if they're chopped in half........would they die if burned or would they continue to roam around as burned zombies

Pretty sure Rick's team moved one of the trucks (there were two pairs of trucks IIRC) to widen the gap at one point so if it was a Wolves Holding pen they would be aware someone let the Walkers Out.

If it's not those Wolves, my money's on either Ron, the doctor's kid who hates Rick, or Enid, the weird girl Carl's hanging out with as the ones making the siren/car horn noise (couldn't quite tell what it was) to attract the walkers to Alexandria. Whoever it is, Carol might have to deal with them I think...

It seemed strange Aaron didn't go out as one of the team to shepherd the walkers, considering he's one of the Alexandrians with the most experience outside the walls. I guess they had to leave some fighters back at the town though.

We've seen Burnt Walkers (some still smouldering if not outright burning) still walking about (some attacked Carol. Tyrese and and the two girls at one point for example).

We've also seen some bombed with Napalm though I can't recall if these still showed signs of "life" (I think they may have even though they were melted into the ground).

So my guess is Fire probably doesn't kill them but if the heat is intense enough or if the fire lasts long enough you can burn enough of them away to make them immobile.
