EE - Samantha Womack's acting
Goodness me I thought her acting tonight was dreadful. It may be only me
but I didn't think her acting was good today unfortunately. I am a fan of Samantha Womack but I don't think she's that good anymore. She was fine in Mount Pleasant but is she bored of Ronnie now?

She has been bad since her return in 2013. She just doesn't bother anymore. The passion is dead. She isn't good in Mount Pleasant either. She isn't commited or loyal to EE anyway.

I thought the same, it's like she isn't putting any effort in.

I haven't seen her in Mount Pleasant yet. Is she actually a lot better in that than she currently is in EastEnders?
I've seen her in other shows since the 90s and thought she was a decent actress. In her first EE run she showed off her talents well. But now it's like she doesn't seem to care much although the writing for her character has been woeful. Maybe if they gave her better material she'd be putting in better performances. It took a good two years for Letitia Dean to really shine since her 2012 comeback. Like Ronnie at the moment, Sharon was handled terribly for quite a while. It has only been since the start of this year that she is finally back to her old self. |

She's been going through the motions for years. Can't blame her really, Ronnie has turned into a joke of a character.

Makes you wonder. If they bring back other high profile actresses like Nina Wadia and Jo Joyner in the future, will they phone in their performances like Sam at the moment? They've done alright for themselves since leaving EE so I wonder if they'd have similar commitment (?) issues as her.

I don't know I quite like her still, I think the acting is her being dead inside no emotion feelings that can happen to killers.

But her good looks compensates her bad acting

I wasn't sure if she was fake crying in the taxi or not. She is usually a lot more convincing.
I wanted Charlie to take Matthew. He'd be in better hands then |

I agree that her acting isn't as good as it used to be. Luckily, she isn't nowhere as bad as Jessie Wallace during her last stint. I do think it'll get better eventually though. I have faith!

Usually her acting is just passable but I've been noticing lately she's having some really rough periods where she is pretty dire. I usually don't bother to comment though because she is never the worst on the show and almost the entire cast have a lot of ropey 'acting' moments.

I've never been impressed with her, find her quite rigid as an actress. But yes she does seem to be getting worse.
Thing is, she has to act emotional scenes alongside men she barely knows. Her and Charlie lacked any sort of chemistry, |

I don't usually like to comment on an actor's physical appearance, but I think part of the reason Sam Womack is so bad in this stint is because her face just doesn't move. I don't know if she's had work done, or whatever, but her face is just so expressionless all the time.
I think it's pretty obvious she has no interest in being there, but I suppose it pays the bills. The phrase "phoning it in" springs to mind. |

Ronnie has suffered from the frequent absences, when she return in Sept 2013 and what happen the following Jan 14 she had a lot of potential of becoming a revitalized Ronnie but then she disappeared for 2 months,
then again for another couple of months, come back and disappeared for around 5 months and now we've just seen a rather dejected and devoid Ronnie, she is literally dead of emotion and even her motivation and characterization has died which might be on par with her but it just lacks any proper direction. |

Thank you. That's exactly how I feel. She's phoning in her performances, has been for years, so she is never terrible but lately it's like she can't even be arsed phoning it in. It is so disrespectful. She's on six figures and still can't maintain any effort. P off Samantha. But she won't because she's too tired and old to be wanted full time anywhere other than panto.

Yes her Plastic face also detracts. She's like Michael Jackson! Her acting is crap, she needs booting out. |

I said full time. Of course she gets the occasional bits and bobs but that's largely due to her resume of when she was younger and not plastic fantastic. She's been coasting for years on her past successes, including her first few years at EE.

Sadly I think the only way Samantha will leave permanently is when the money stops being rewarding or budget cuts force her to get a pay cut and she balks at the offer.

Mount Pleasant is an ongoing series is it not? She's been in three series now. She also did South Pacific in the theatre for a long run.
It's all bits and bobs. It's not steady work. Only being on EE means she doesn't have to try, unlike theatre. She's such a lazy girl. |
