I imagine BB wanted to calm him down rather than fire him up any further. I think they did the job they are there to do, or one of them, which is to listen to the housemates if they need to vent or somebody to talk to. We rarely see that these days, but I imagine housemates do still do that.
There's no excuse for BB's failure even to give him a formal warning.

And it's not like Austin went to the DR because he needed to vent or wanted someone to talk to. He was called to the DR because of his obnoxious behaviour.

He needs to go. I found it quite distressing tonight and Janice did nothing to deserve that diatribe.

I disagree with some FMs on this thread - for me, it is bullying. He has never let up on Janice and it went far too far tonight.

All of his vitriol stemmed from his being nominated and I have to ask did he think he was fireproof and a sure thing for the finale - it seems so. When he realised a line had been crossed he resorted to tears and gave the viewers the poor me/no-one understands what I've been through line.

Awful man.

I'm actually shocked at what came out of Austin's mouth tonight, totally no excuse for that type of behavior!!
Isn't that why we watch BB though, because we want to see people reveal different aspects of their personalities, warts and all, good or bad? Isn't that one of the complaints about Stevie and Chloe (especially Chloe) ... that many think she's faking her way through the show, that we don't see real behaviour, emotion from her/them?

Unfortunately, when we do see various sides of peoples' personalities, we don't always like what we see (and become very vocal about it on here, obviously - which is part of the fun ).

Thought it was terrible can't believe Bb. Never gave him a warning. disappointed Natasha never told him to stop when she was in the room but went outside and told the others what he was saying.

Disgraceful from BB there, pandering to and smarming over him as if he was a delicate little flower. Not a word about Janice or her feelings and how grossly offensive and degrading his behaviour.

Bullying? LOL No one is bullying and no one is being bullied ffs
Agreed. It's ridiculous to say this is bullying. Lots of hysteria around tonight.

They don't throw people out of the BB house for being obnoxious .
If they did it would almost always be empty.
Exactly right.

I've cancelled my planned Holiday to NYC at the weekend off the back of it.

Disgusting stuff.

And me. He will be getting my vote that's for sure.
Austin would get my vote as well, but seeing as I don't vote well......

Austin lost his top but I can understand why he went into attack mode. If your so called best friend in the house can nominate you I would have a melt down too.

And maybe the reason he loathes Janice may be because of what has happened to his mother and his mixed up feelings about her. They must be of a similar age surely.

Everyone says mean nasty things about people at some time in their lives. Maybe behind their backs rather than dorectly to them. It's just that Austin is not controlling himself and doing it before a tv audience. So everyone saying he is vile and a bully should think of that saying that you don't know anything until you've stood in someone else's shoes. Not everone has a normal background or if they haven't are not affected by it. I am not justifying Austin's behaviour but trying to understand him which not many people want to do.

I would like him to go tomorrow, but I think he has the gay vote in tthe bag. He is vile and disgusting aggressive towards Janice since the start. don't like Janice but she doesn't deserve to be constantly shouted at by him. I loved the way Natasha shouted at him to let him know what it has been like for the other housemates.

Maybe he should have just fake spat at Janice instead. Because that kind of behaviour is clearly ok for an 'elderly' lady who isnt averse to throwing the f*ck and c**t words herself when it suits
This...

Though when this gets mentioned, it somehow gets ignored.

Other HMs have managed to avoid melt downs and foul-mouthed rage when it's happened to them.

It looks an awful lot like justifying his behaviour ... or else explaining it away.

Many HMs whose behaviour wasn't as bad have received a lot less understanding and explaining and sympathy. What on earth is so special about Austin that he should be an exception?

Lol can't believe the lynch mob mentality on here. Janice would be VERY annoying to live with. He clearly gets EXCESSIVELY annoyed by her tho. However there is no way he deserves to be chucked out just for saying vile things one time when in a terrible mood, a warning at most.
For it to be bullying would be a prolonged thing with NO conflict, which there is with Janice, and no provocation which there is with Janice.

A warning at least. I can't think of any other HM who's gotten away with such behaviour.

I don't think the idea that he's a bully can be dismissed so easily. It's not just one time. He's loud and foul-mouthed and aggressively confrontational again and again; and when someone tries to end it by leaving, he follows after them.

The B-word can be more trouble than it's worth, and this may be one of those times. But his behaviour is unacceptably wrong, regardless of whether it's bullying or not.

He should have been given a strong formal warning of the sort Janice received earlier in this CBB: a warning that made it clear he'd be out if there was anything like that from him again.

People throw out "bullying" way too often when it comes to this show but no, this is bullying. He is a horrible person.
If you're talking about the way he went on in the bedroom then no, it wasn't bullying. It was nasty behaviour from Austin, but it wasn't bullying. After he unleashed some insults to her, he then started again, even though Janice hadn't said a word. If he started targeting her day after day for virtually nothing, that would be bullying.

I'd argue he's been targeting her for a while now, prior to his meltdown in the bedroom on yesterday's show.

Yes, I thought it was clever of Natasha to make him aware of what he sounds like when he is ranting on and on but guess what, people accuse her of shouting like a fishwife, you couldn't make it up.

Did he swear at Janice? Now that would be an understatement.

Yes, he did swear but he said so much more. She certainly knows what he thinks about her now that's for sure.
