I think James was smirking when Austin came out of the diary room. He covered his mouth with his hand but you could see it anyway, briefly. I don't think James was necessarily smirking at Austin's distress but I think he believed Austin was playing the part to win. Its like they have a sidebet on who can outplay the other. James is winning the sidebet however I don't think he realises just how bad a loser Austin is.

I agree. They've got a routine going now - fight and make up. Although this time James looked a bit uncertain and worried how about how far Austin would go.

I think James is competing to win the game as a challenge, but I don't he'll be too bothered either way, just so long as he gets to the final day. His real prize is to bag a TV presenting job. I think he said as much at quite an early stage in the show.

He's showing he can be calm and even tempered under pressure, he recovers well and quickly from set backs with a smiling and relaxed veneer. He's not the most quick witted but is able to adapt to different personalities - flatter them but throw in criticism without revealing any grudges. He's charismatic with a good sense of humour, up for some fun and horseplay. He takes a lot of care on his physical appearance and is body confident. He's aware of what works well for the cameras. All in all, he ticks a lot of boxes for TV.

I think we're seeing a fraction of James' whole character on the show - just a TV persona. He's selling himself very well, playing to his strengths and I think he would be very good in an Ant & Dec type presenting job.

They are all aware of the cameras and how close they are to winning. Even Natasha, Nanna and Bobby joined in by comforting Austin, thinking 'This will look good on the HLs'.

I'd feel the same. I'd wait until I found out it was real or not.

Bobby shouts "Evict this man NOW" before Austin went into the DR, he then comforts him so he obviously felt sorry for Austin. I'd have waited, I don't think I'd want to comfort a man as soon as he came out because I'd feel like I wasn't wanted.

James waited a while because most people wouldn't want to be comforted by someone they just had a row with. James was probably the least "Oh look there's a camera" out of all of them because he didn't play the "lets comfort him in front of the cameras" thing. The others saw this as an opportunity to look good.

And as for the smirking, that's rubbish. You're just assuming based on no evidence. He wasn't smirking at all.

I don't have access to clips but if somebody techno savvy could post a link you will see James was definitely smirking/smiling behind his hand. I dont believe he's a psycho who enjoys looking at people's pain, he thought Austin was pulling a Nellie Dean whereas it soon became apparent even Austin didn't really know why he was crying-because he had a bad childhood? because his Mum is in prison? no, because he knew James had outplayed him and was winning the game.

Or on the other hand, maybe they are just human beings and felt sorry for him .....Certainly haven't seen much evidence of Natasha or Sherrie fighting for camera time .

James turned into a nasty man, first saving the Vile Janice then nominating his so called mate who without Austin we wouldnt see much of as James is a total bore.

I noticed it straight away and was going to start a thread on it but changed my mind as I didn't feel like the grief I'd get

I saw it too. As usually I miss the best bits due to my cat wanting to go out for the toilet.

I love the fact that James' nom and apparently his "smirking" has masked the fact that Austin is terrible.

There's always something to distract from Austin's behaviour. It's never his fault, is it?

He takes the piss out of Chloe and the drinking but wants people to feel sorry for him when he is asking for it.

I'm not saying it excuses Austin's behaviour. I've been saying Austin is awful since the beginning.

No one is excusing Austin but are instead commenting on perceived disloyalty and manipulation from James. Austin has many and i repeat many flaws but that doesn't mean he isn't allowed a bit of sympathy when his so called best mate knifes him in the back.

Interesting point, the prize money is for charity. Big egos, like all the HMs have, would see it as positive affirmation and would make money from mags etc but then again they all will do that to some degree. Its more than just the money for Austin but I think James is in it for the spondoolicks. He is a breadhead who wasn't born with a silver spoon whereas Austin seems to have been relatively comfortable in comparison. I will resist the temptation to joke about his Mum

James apologised after. I can see why he didn't during the whole thing. It's like trying to reason with a 5 year old mid-tantrum.

I'm certainly not excusing Austin's behaviour. I think he, like Farrah, has a personality disorder and behaves violently and aggressively towards women. I agreed with St Bobby last night, they should have sent in security to drag him out instead of calling him to the diary room. Jenna's enabling wasn't helping either.

I must have missed his apology as i was getting annoyed with both, all i saw at the end was James saying something like "what will we do with you eh" which oddly annoyed me even more as it seemed like he was putting it all on Austin. To be fair i will agree that Austin would have been difficult to have a calm conversation with at that point.

He did it yesterday so should be shown today.

Last night on the feed they were back to what they were like before Farrah and Jenna's return to the house.
