by nominating Austin and he was being strategic, but 3 days earlier Austin was in the top 4 of 9, so that would lead you to believe that putting him up for nomination would be a wasted vote as clearly Austin is popular- where is the strategy in that?

James may have then thought that Austen has been a dick for a few days so I need to distance myself, but Helen Wood was a dick for 3 months, she won, Gary Busey was a pain for 5 weeks, he won, Heidi and Spencer were painful the whole series, they came second etc. So if James had watched the show, which I am sure he has, why would he think that putting up his "competition" would mean he would leave. The chances are he would stay, so not very strategic based on history.

Exactly...Austin was in the top four...James knew he was popular and by nominating him James must have realised that he was putting his own popularity in danger.

That is why I believe that James nominated him for being to aggressive.

Exactly if you wanted to score points with the public you wouldn't choose someone who was in the top 4 and feel for someone who wasn't (Janice).

His nomination was not to score points or to eliminate competition. It was because he thought Austins behaviour was wrong.

Rubbish - James is playing the game! He knows what he has to do and he gets down and does it when he has to.

He didn't know whether Austin was 1/4 or 4/4 in the top four (neither do we) and he well knows that the CBB viewing public change their minds like the wind. He wasn't going to risk alienating 'Nana', Bobby Davro or Natasha (I wouldn't like to be on the wrong side of her) - so it's obvious - Get Rid of the Opposition, starting with the Americans.

He played the game in 'The Apprentice' to his detriment, but I for one am going to be very cross if he ends up being Top Dog this time.

Of course he is playing the game that is what he should be doing....but why would he put his own popularity at risk by nominating Austin.

At the end of the day Austin was being nasty and cruel...I still like Austin but James was right.

As tactical moves go, putting your 'bezzie' up for eviction never goes down well with BB viewers, so it'd certainly be a dumb move.

But he did come over as dumb on The Apprentice so who knows? I go back and forth on whether he's acting from his heart or his head. His decision to save Janice for 'humanitarian' reasons lost him an awful lot of viewer trust; it was so leftfield that it's hard to see it as anything other than tactical. And talking to yourself in the garden is a classic BB blunder if you're trying to curry the 'authenticity' vote. But then he did seem genuinely exasperated with Austin and Jenna's incessant hounding of him, and Austin's disrespect to others.

I think I'm confused about James because the answer lies somewhere in between....he IS playing a game, and he is also a real human with real feelings.

Wow. I'm pleased, and I agree that James was being himself. There is NO reason for him to nominate Austin and risk his popularity outside, other than the one he has given, which is because Austin had given him good reason by being so damn nasty and aggressive with people, including James.

In the house as in life, you can really only affect how you behave. The rest is conjecture.

James obviously didn't care about the stick he'd get from the public hence why he's not doing it to look good.

I mean if we want to go back on how Jenna always made a song and dance about "you should never nominate your own team" but wanted James to nom Team UK? Well James nominated US, so why is Jenna so upset?

Austin has always been cruel and nasty, the only change is James found out with the top 4 thing that Austin was his direct competition.

Sherri also nominated her direct competition Bobby.

There is no excuse for nominating his best friend in the house, according to James that is what Austin is. Sherrie and Natasha didn't do that and Farrah and Jenna didn't do that. Chloe and Janice didn't do that...only James.

You think it put him at risk which means he did it for altruistic reasons. I think and evidently Austin does to that he wanted rid of his competition. The others in the top 4 aren't direct competition. It was also a no brainer to think Austin would be up without the addition of James nomination...

No excuse for it and his lying to them for days regarding his manipulation of the eviction of Farrah shows he's in the game, really in it. He's calculating and cold and now I think he's also dishonest because he is. No amount of spin makes it ok to nominate your best friend in the house.

Yep, that's the way I see it. He's managed to curb his negative side quite well in the house. He was way worse in The Apprentice, than Austin is in BB.

I think he's at his most genuine when he's laughing and joking with Jenna and Austin. I agree they have major faults which is clear to James as much as anyone else but that's who he clearly enjoys hanging out with and only seems to seek out Natasha etc when they've fallen out. I therefore don't blame them for taking issue with the fact that despite their obvious friendship they're his number one priority when it comes to eliminating

No but he will know for sure after the double eviction. If Austin and Jenna go then he knows who he is playing against, but if they stay or Austin stays then it will be interesting to see if he rekindles their friendship for the final days because he will know that Austin has a great chance of winning, certainly if he stays after his awful behaviour this week.

They have already rekindled there friendship...I believe that the house mates think Stevie and Chloe are the favourites to win.

If James thought Austin was so popular then James would have not nominated for fear of making himself unpopular.

If James thought Austin was his competition and James wanted to score points with the public, he wouldn't have nominated him because it would have made him dislikes.

James decides to nom his friend for his disgusting behavior shows he normed him for that reason and not for getting more liked because James would know he'd get the backlash.

So James decided to do the right thing over trying to impress the public.So that just proves James doesn't want to impress the public but wants to do what he feels is right.

Well as Austin was in the top 4 same as James, he probably thought Austin was liked and more popular than he himself (James), he isnt going to take a chance so he put him up for eviction hoping he will go. By James making his point that Austin shouldnt shout and be nasty to an older person he (James) is hoping the public will agree with his sneaky plan to out Austin.

By the voting results, crowd reactions so far and the general pattern that are true with all shows with this type of structure he knows the bromance is going down well. So he has to distinguish himself from Austin at some point to increase his chances of winning so he's gone down the road of the white knight. Austin cannot help himself so easily fulfilled his villain role for him to play off against.

By nominating him (which I'm sure if seen in full, would have been accompanied by a heartfelt speech about what's right and sacrifice for greater good, like grandad etc) he is singling himself out as the honourable one of the two and hopefully increase potential of being loved by the GBP
