So sorry to hear of your loss, focus on the fact that you gave him a good life, he's no longer in pain now and I'm sure you have loads of wonderful memories x

Am so sorry you had to say goodbye. It is the final act of love that we do for our little ones, but no words can ease the pain that you feel right now.

It won't always feel this raw, I read a poem that was so touching, it was written as a will that a poorly dog writes, it left it's loving family to a dog in need, it takes about wanting another dog to inherit all the cuddles and walks and playtimes. It ended by thanking it's family for recognizing that it was time to let him go to sleep because he was tired and didn't feel well enough to carry on.

I think all of us in this thread will shed a tear for Bailey and you today. Have a hug from us all. X

So sorry Porcupine, losing a pet really is like losing a family member. Just keep thinking how loved he was and what a great life you gave him, give his sister a big cuddle too.

Thank you everyone. Keep crying, but my husband and I are talking about him and sharing stories. He was my baby, and my lap feels cold without him on it. My heart feels heavy, but I know it will get easier. I kind of want the pain for a while though.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts. I am feeling a little stronger now. I have walked around in a dream for a few days, then Saturday the tears came and didn't stop. Luckily my husband and I talk about him constantly, and although it makes me cry I love talking about him. He was my gorgeous, chunky, handsome boy. I have posted a photo for those that want to look.

Porcupine, I'm so sorry to read this thread. I have a lump in my throat reading it. It's clear how loved Bailey was and I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you. As heart breaking as your decision at the end was, it was a decision taken in love and the right one for Bailey. I wish you well.

He was a beautiful boy, it's a lovely photo.

Aw he's absolutely beautiful- very similar to my old lad. You will cope better with the loss in time, but you will never forget him
