I have been a bit snippy of late (even more snippy than usual).

I do apologise - got workman in - now going into third week of crash, bang wallop - (a garage conversion).

It just struck me that I have been a bit short.

Seriously - if I have offended - I apologise.

That very nice of you Penny. Can't say I've seen you behave any worse than anyone else here but if you think it's needed, then that's gracious of you.

If Austin repeats your apology verbatim in the next few days I will never forgive you.

Yeah she's pretty poorly - 84 years old - she's coped well until recently but - the time has come. We are all looking forward to it - she'll still have her independence to some extent but it won't be so lonely.

Well done, it is important not to be lonely in old age. 84 years old, fabulous

No apologies needed, I think we are on the same side mostly this year.

ROFL - the plumber has just this minute left - unfortunately the wet room isn't finished - hopefully Friday - we could all do the wrap party in there.

Are you having her come to live with you?

Is that what Gail is doing?

Is the wet room for your mum?

I'm interested because I'm seeing a trend of media portraying adult children taking their parents into their homes, which has been decreasing in popularity since the 70's.

David and forgot her name (his wife) want more space so are moving Gail out into the garage/shed.

The Corrie houses are seriously deceiving - in that house there's David/wife/max/lily/Gail/Sara Lou and Bethany - where do they all sleep.

' As for Eileen's house it's like a tardis.

sorry, didnt know the situation, i used to be a community social care worker in my village, and i know it does help if people can stay in their own homes or get help and stay independant..much love to your mum x

Yes. We are making the garage into a bed/sitting room the utility room has been cut down in size and the downstairs toilet made bigger into a wet room. All one level with sliding doors for wheelchair access (not needed at the mo but might need it later). The garage is integral so she has her own 'wing' but can still be part of the main house - great for when the family come and visit.

As a family we have always 'looked after our elderly' - my mum lived next door to her parents and elderly aunts and uncles were all near by and taken care of. It's only fair that we take good care of her now - I know not everyone can do it - we are very lucky to be in the position to do so.

I'm sure lots want to but it's not always easy to do.

Oh I see, I thought Gail was moving her mum in. I'm wondering how old her mum is now? Is audreybstill in the show? Is she showing signs of ageing? Frailty or losing mental capacity?

I haven't noticed you being snippy at all. I think it's great what you're doing and hope it all goes well.

Thank you, I hope it goes well for all of you.
As families are more disparate it's less common.

I wonder if the government aren't trying to encourage it more to reduce the burden on social housing and care homes.
Anyway, it's very good of you. Good luck

PS
I'm snappy all the time, I don't apologise as mostly it's because people say dumb things.

No apologies needed Penny and it's really lovely to hear you are taking care of your Mum. I was lucky I suppose that my parents lived just across the road from me so it was easier to keep an eye on them when needed and they were fabulous helping me previously when I needed a lot of help. It was a comfort to know they were only a few steps away.

Hope the building work is over quickly and everything is fabulous.
