Next Time Trailer
TV Trailer

Trapped and alone in a terrifying Dalek city, the Doctor is at the heart of an evil Empire; no sonic, no Tardis, nobody to help. With his greatest temptation before him, can the Doctor resist? And will there be mercy

I always like a episode thread a few days before the episode so people can discuss it.

Absolutely love that clip, shows how desperate and angry the Doctor truly is.

amazing review

"The final moments hint at an epically volcanic and disturbing (in a good way) story arc to come, or even multiple story arcs; the future does not look rosy for the Time Lord. "

Thanks for that. It truly whets the appetite! As if it wasn't whetted enough already!

A couple of quotes from Blogtor Who's review.

Quote:
“I guess I'll get the shocks out the way first. There are some big, big moves from Steven here as he continues to revisit Whostory in his own audacious fashion.”

Quote:
“I do have some quibbles, however. Steven Moffat has, in his unique fashion, made some continuity and mythology choices which I can't say pleased me greatly (and I imagine I won't be alone); the writer is bringing in the changes to the past and future in colossal ways. Some fans will applaud, some will boo. Plus ca change.”

I was thinking about the Valeyard who was "an amalgamation of the Doctor's darker sides from between his twelfth and final incarnations". And wondering if Moffat is bringing him into the show now we've reached that point in the Doctor's story. It was the Master who revealed who the Valeyard was when he appeared in Trial Of The Time Lord back in Colin Baker's day so that might explain why Missy has been brought into the opening story of this series.

I'm really looking forward to the Doctor-Davros tête-à-têtes. Their interactions in last week's episode were probably the highlight of the episode so I'm very much looking forward to seeing a lot more. I'd be happy if the entire episode was just one scene with the Doctor and Davros.

It felt to me that a lot of The Magician's Apprentice was "filler" just to extend the episode's length and set it up for the next episode, but I'm optimistic that The Witch's Familiar will have a much clearer focus.

Interesting review. I wonder what it will be that will make some fans "apoplectic" after the episode airs. The post-episode discussion is probably going to be something else to look forward to!

Also intrigued to find out what these potential story arcs are. Hopefully something will actually come of them, unlike some other "game-changing" events which ultimately came to nothing (such as the Daleks all forgetting the Doctor... then promptly remembering him again).

Another cracking review. Really looking forward to Saturday!

Also, for a really good laugh, have a look at the comments after the cultbox review - there's some spectacularly mad comments in capitals which make even the wildest posts on DS look entirely sane and rational...

They're blocked on this end now, but I saw one about the old man Capaldi ruining a shoe earlier, if that's one of them.

Oh dear, mixed reviews then. I probably shan't bother watching it.

I think "The Witch's Familiar" and "The Magician's Apprentice" are both euphemisms.

DS has released "ten exciting teasers" and then deleted my comment when I joined in the speculation about what one of them might entail.

And....? Don't leave it like that! Or do you want us to speculate what your speculation was?

Liked that. The Doctor seldom loses it and resorts to shouting, so it's often very effective when he does.....Beast Below, Town Called Mercy, the Colonel Runaway scene, etc.

Noticed the scanner behind Peter C. Davros appears to have used his DVD collection again and edited together 'The Best of The Daleks Killing People', maybe for the Skaro version of YouTube?

The opener was very good and what we've seen of this episode bodes well, I think.

Perhaps they were supposed to delete this one.
