I am CBB's biggest fan, but after witnessing a vicious and sustained verbal assault on a 60 year old woman (with obvious dementia), by a 28 year old man (with obvious behaviour problems) broadcast in its entirety by Channel Five, and now violence in the studio afterwards, which was entirely predictable, among former housemates, it is time to scrap it.

Channel Five should lose its license.

Evidently not.

I doubt that Janice is suffering from dementia.

As soon a I saw those champagne flutes on the panel I knew something was gonna happen then moments later you could see Trashleyne pick one up about to throw it at Farrah when they suddenly went off air.

The producers were irresponsible and should be fined for sure.

I also hate the treatment of Janice by Austin with no punishment for him at all.

If you look at my posts i think you find I have been an enthusiastic supporter of CBB over the years.

I do not know what she was like before, but on the basis of her interview (unless she is deaf and/or inebriated) after her eviction (and for that matter her behaviour in the house) I see clear evidence of mental confusion. This made Austin's verbal assault on her even more unbearable.

As far as I could see Austin was not even given a verbal warning. He should have been expelled from the house.

Channel five dont force the celebrities on the show they know what they sign up for. If you dont like it then would you like us to buy you a remote to change the channel?

Why do you think throwing excrement at people in the stocks, bear baiting. and public executions were ended? Do you think it was because nobody wanted to watch them, that they could not sell tickets for them, or because society set itself higher standards.

Get a grip. They're willing participants. Hardly the same as the spectacles you have used as examples.

Good point.

I appreciate that some people will do almost anything for money, but that is not the point.

Janice is not the one with dementia.

Its not an everyday event that someone gets hit by a flying chair and I'm sure it's not something they prepare or plan for. If you really feel the need to participate in some form of protest of this type get yourself off to Spain or somewhere like it. They chuck donkeys off buildings and watch men and beasts gore each other in the name of entertainment.

It puts the fact that they showed Janice Dickinson having convulsions as a result of an allergic reaction to a bee sting into context. They thought it would be good for ratings.

You underestimate the cynicism of some television producers.

I think the whole concept of reality TV is crazy. CBB has a house full of Z listers who clearily have some kind of issues(that is why they were chosen to go in by the producers). The Bit on the Side incident was nothing short of ridiculous. In a country/world full of bigger issues than some z listers going at it, it really did make all concerned in the incident look pathetic.

I dont think the show should be scrapped, it still gets enough viewers for Channel 5 atleast, and as long as that continues to be the case they will keep running with it. That said the whole thing last night was just plain dumb, and pointless.

I think the concept is a good one, but the producers have such contempt for their audience, they are turning it into the C21st equivalent of a visit Bedlam. They not only cheapen the concept, they degrade our sense of what it is to be human with gutter trash such as Jenna Jameson, Farrah Abraham, and pycho Austin "apologize to me" Armacost.

Of course I meant CBB not CCB.

Firstly, Janice has shot her mind with drugs and alcohol. Secondly, she has bene on many similar programs and deliberately elicits negative responses from other people. As for the violence in the studio, I haven't seen it yet but you were obviously entertained by it.

I am much bemused by the people who watch this program knowing what to expect, and then when it fulfils their expectations whinge to OFCOM or loudly declare it should be banned. I think Strictly starts this weekend, maybe that's more your thing.

Janice doesn't have 'obvious dementia' - what a weird thing to throw out in the middle of a post about a lack of of respect and ethics.

You could save yourself time by just declaring yourself bemused.

It is immaterial in this instance how Janice arrived at her mental impairment.

As for the violence (and its inevitability given the set up) the fact it happened is all you need to know.

Not sure how I could be entertained by something that was not broadcast, but then again you admit to being bemused.
