And it's not (at least not originally) in waltz time.
So not only is the song forgettable, depressing and awful its also not in waltz time..... good luck with that one.

I'm pleased that Kellie is the only female doing the tango, gives her a better chance of standing out

Some pretty good song choices there, and no obviously terrible ones, mixed in with the usual first round cliches - IIRC though, last year there were at least seven or eight song choices that were in some way linked to the celebrity, whereas there's only five this year (Anthony, Carol, Daniel, Helen and Iwan), which is an improvement, I suppose.

And I totally called Georgia getting that Meghan Trainor song in another thread, so I'm feeling quite proud of myself now.

I was thinking when I saw the song choice that whoever made that prediction called that well.

I, on the other hand, feel suitable stupid not picking "Roll Over Beethoven" for Katie.

Given that I do think the pros have a bit of choice as to what dances they avoid, and Anton managed to avoid it for 6 years, this could very well be the case.

Will be interesting what dance Katie & Anton would skip in the (extremely hypothetical) situation that they made the Semis - Katie specifically said she wants to do the Samba the most (...), so... Rumba? Or, more likely, Argentine Tango (seeing as Anton has never, ever done one)?
(*pulls out pedants glasses*) H'actually there was a group Argentine Tango in Series 3 the week Bill & Karen went out, so technically speak he has danced an Argentine Tango with a celebrity partner, although not one that was scored.

(The whole thing was a ruddy mess incidentally)

(From what I remember)

I stand corrected!

Well, then, I don't actually know what would be best for Katie & Anton to avoid. Salsa? Or are we in a strange new realm where he'll avoid something silly like a Waltz?

I don't think it matters too much with Anton and Katie - it's not like they're hot favourites or even in the running (which is when I think avoiding a horribly unsuitable dance could make a difference). They'll just have a laugh with the Latin, do the best they can, and try and impress with some half-decent Ballroom.

(Katie will probably turn out to be Ginger Rogers now I've said all that)

So cha cha cha:
Thunder in my Heart
September
Reach out I'll be there
Ain't no Other Man
Rather Be

Waltz
When Irish Eyes
Do Right Woman
Vincent
With you I'm born again

Tango
Keep on Running
You Really Got Me
Voulez Vous

Jive
Roll Over Beethoven
Wake me up
Dear Future Husband

Out of interest, those of you who know about these things, who's got the best and worst for each dance?

Rumba hopefully - Anton's Rumba face is something is something I prefer not to be subjected to...

All of the Tango choices are dreadful, although Voulez Vous largely because it brings back memories of Miss Fun Funnity Fun when she hit peak awfulness. All of the other dances have good music.

It's tacky from the BBC.

She is with her boyfriend and does not need all this storyline nonsense. It was pathetic between Abbey / Aljaz but thankfully they gave up when they realised how classless it was to keep pushing it. Hopefully the same happens for Geo and Gio

I have a feeling Giovanni isn't going to be very respectful of Georgia's relationship status either. Getting slightly lecherous vibes from him.

I agree. I like Voulez Vous though. But the last time Strictly did an Abba song, it didn't end well, I believe that last year they used "Mamma Mia" as a FOXTROT. For Jennifer Gibney in week 3. Why did they? I don't know.

I think despite the cheesy cliches it is a good song list. Really surprised "Uptown Funk" or "Black Magic" hasn't appeared though, but who knows, they might pop up later in the series.

I assume they're keeping Black Magic on hold for Halloween Week?

They should definitely avoid the salsa.

With that thought perhaps Ainsley & Natalie will do a Salsa for their second week, just to shoehorn a food related dance into the mix.

In terms of Strictly history, I would say that Helen and Anthony have the best choices.

That Waltz (song) was danced by Natasha, Mark and Denise (two winners and a finalist)

That Jive (song) was danced by Julian and Jason (two finalists)
