One thing that always stands out about CBB is that often the ages are far more varied as opposed to regular series where there's the 'token' over 40, the rest look like they were rounded up from the background of a TOWIE nightclub scene.

I grew weary of the regular series long ago because there rarely seems to be any diversity in there because it seems they specifically target Big Brother contestants, as if that's now a genre of person. Early to mid 20's, loud, probably have a London/Essex accent and in their facebook bios likely have the words "All my friends say I'm mad...."

On the celebrity series, although it's never A-listers (let's be honest, you can get quite a way down the alphabet) they are presumably chosen based on who they can get so there seems to be more diversity in ages and personality range.

Whenever I watch a CBB series and enjoy it I can't help but feel disheartened at the prospect of 12 or so nondescript, thuggy, loud-mouths who'll be in residence during the next regular series. None of whom seem to bring anything else to the table other than a lifetime of ambition to one day get on Big Brother.
