Yep, it was John wasn't it?
It seems to have been bradley's choice to leave Holby and they'd gladly have him back. He always gave every impression of loving it at Holby and being the second longest serving member of cast probably had quite a few perks in terms of dressing rooms, being allowed sabbatical, some input into characterisation and scripts. So, I'd say he has chosen to leave because he either wants to spend more time on his music, shorter term, one off projects like stage work or sit coms (he was on Red Dwarf too pre EE if you recall) or just more time at home - he is about 60 after all.
Unless he has been offered an unbelievably good storyline, i can't see him returning to EE. It is not the same as Michael French who did it specifically because of Pat dying and then writing out Janine and Carol's Cancer.
Plus, arguably, there was still a lot of mileage in David, not so sure about Nigel. I'm not really sure what they could do with him except have him play second fiddle to the Mitchell's as Phil and Sharon's friend and support to Dot. So, really, just the same thing he was doing 20 years ago when he decided to leave.
