Both he and Paula Lane are excellent.

I questioned whether the Platts taking centre stage could work, but it's been great tonight - all 3 of them. I think it's quite a bold move having 3 young actors take the centre stage and great that the episode is being led by two characters born in the show!

Jack has been excellent tonight, have to agree.

Mind I think they've all raised their game.

Jack P Shepherd was outstanding. His comic timing was superb. The 'I'm not getting caught out by Gails top and bottom sheet rotation" ... and the bit with the phone when Gemma called him 'Dave' ... absolutely brilliant .... as was Paula Laine and Tina O'Brien

Always has been, but raised the bar tonight! Tina and Paula were fantastic as well.

He was bloody exceptional - tense, nervy and even somehow funny with the 'Dave' comment. Very occasionally in Corrie you can see the moment when one character becomes representative of the entire show, defining it to an extent. I think for this decade (the teenies?) David will be remembered as the central character, like Bet Lynch was in the 90's.

He's fantastic, Jack. Never gives anythign less than a completely convincing performance, even if some of the storylines he's given are drekk. Wonderfully dry humour as well; that 'Sheet rotation' line had me in stitches!

Big props to Tina and Paula as well. And David!

Jack has always been a wonderful actor as David on Corrie and tonight showcased that again and LIVE as well. He was very good at drama, emotion and comedy all in one.

Such a shame about the storyline the family have had recently.

Always rated Jack P Shepherd and have said so many times. Paula Lane as well, she was as good as she is in the recorded episodes. Can't say I was impressed with Tina O'Brien though.

I've said for a while now that David and Kylie are the best characters in the Street, probably because they're played so well.

First started properly taking notice of Jack's acting back when he was on the factory roof with Jason, declaring how he'd love to shoot Gail, Audrey and Sarah ("Three witches. Three bitches. Bang, bang, bang." ) Very corny line on paper but there was something uneasy about the way it was delivered. That was the start of noticing Jack's talent for me. Every story he's had since then, he's always seemed to give it everything he can, even if the writing lets it down sometimes.

Totally agree with you and I was so surprised that Tina raised her game tonight also

Jack is great as David, and Corrie would not be the same without him. He's brilliant at both comedy and drama - he's evolving into a Corrie icon for me. Paula Lane is brilliant as Kylie too. They work very well as a couple.

I think Tina O Brien has been quite weak in the past, but she really surprised me tonight. I thought she was very convincing and did very well.

I totally agree, are these really the same actors that have played these parts for so long?
A complete revelation of their true potential.
Well done to the three of them.

Stuffy.

Was it because they had more time to prepare and rehearse? It was the best they had performed in ages.
