Hi all.
I have a pair of female Guinea pigs that are one year old. I would love to get another pair of female pigs. I was wondering what the chances are of my Guinea pigs not getting on with the new pigs.

I have looked at new cages and I have done a bit of research online about introducing them.

My piggies are extremely friendly and get along well together but I am worried incase I upset them by getting another pair.

I don't want to rush into any decisions yet. I don't really know many people who own Guinea pigs so I don't have anyone to ask.

I just don't want to upset any piggies involved

Thank you for any advice, it is much appreciated.

Generally a group of sows will usually get on well, however, there is no cast iron guarantee, as one of the sows will become the top sow so to speak, and this can in the beginning lead to domineering behaviour and sometimes scuffles.

If you decide to proceed with two more sows, do all introductions in a neutral space, any sign of aggression usually in the form of face to face yawning, lunging needs you to be ready to intervene and separate.

Rule of thumb, if blood is drawn, unlikely you will have success in a permanent bonding.

Good luck.
