What storylines and characters have worked well, when Stuart was in charge, and what hasn't worked well?

So I have done a list.
THE GOOD Steve's depression storyline, Faye's teenaged pregnancy storyline. Beth and Kirk's wedding, Introducing Beth's family (her mum, sister and nan were brilliant). Sinead's dancing in the nightclub Axing Jenna and Mandy Kamara, Making Steph Britton full time, as she is brilliant, Introducing Erica Holroyd-she is hilarious, she would of been more believable as Erica's sister though. Introducing Callum Logan. Bringing back Jenny Bradley, Bringing back Sarah Louise Platt. Bringing back and RECASTING Bethany Platt. Lucy Fallon is brilliant, hilarious and talented. Bringing back Bev Unwin for Deirdre's funeral. Bringing back Cilla Brown. Introducing Owen's estranged wife Linda. Axing the dreadful Lloyd and Andrea (hopefully never to be seen again) The flat fire |

THE BAD
WELL WHERE DO I BEGIN..... Bringing back Liz Mcdonald (He should of brought her back for A BRIEF RETURN FOR Deirdre's funeral, and let her leave again). Plus I was looking forward to seeing Beverly Callard purse new project-she was brilliant in Two Pints of Lager, and a packet of crisps. NOT KILLING OFF Brian Packham, AXING Dennis Tanner, Peter and Tina's affair-pathetic KILLING OFF TINA MCINTYRE-he should of left the door wide open. THE WHO KILLED TINA storyline-pathetic. KILLING OFF HAYLEY CROPPER. NOT AXING ROY CROPPER-Roy and Hayley should of left away from the street, move to the countryside, after Hayley tracks down her birth mother. Selling the café, and having a happy ending. Creating and introducing THE NAZIR'S-just to prove a point that Corrie has had a token Muslim family. EMPLOYING LES DENNIS, as the DREADFUL Michael Rodwell. EMPLOYING SARAH HARDING EMPLOYING PADDY MCGUINESS Sean and the gay vicar storyline-pathetic. Creating Andrea, The Andy/Gavin imposter storyline. Introducing Cathy, Ken chasing after women so soon after Deirdre's death. CASTING Stuart Wolfenden in the minor/guest role of Greig Hodge. Despite the fact that Stuart Wolfenden played full time character Mark Casey from 1989-1991. He (SB) should of just reintroduced Mark Casey as Jackson's dad. The Nick and David car crash. Nick's brain tumour Who's the daddy of Lily Platt. Not having Tina leave the street, and move away after reuniting with Tommy Duckworth. Axing Tommy Duckworth/Sacking of Chris Fountain-actors have done worser things in real life. Not bringing back Janice and Les Battersby to clash with Leanne's birth mother Stella Price. Maria and Marcus Todd/Maria/Marcus Ruining Todd's character RECASTING TONY STEWART (ALAN IGABON WAS PERFECT IN THE ROLE) GAIL AND MICHAEL'S WEDDING The custody battle of Max, and the pathetic scene of Gail and Callum's mum doing a cross word together, as if that would happen in real life. NOT EXPANDING THE STREET SET-A NEW STREET WITH NEW TERRACE HOUSES should of featured, so characters who don't live on the street, could live near the street (Mawdesley Street). RECASTING ROBERT PRESTON (the original actor Julian Kay was perfect in the role) Simon abusing Leanne BRINGING BACK ROB DONOVAN NOT KILLING OFF DEV ALAHAN, NOT AXING MARIA CONNOR INTRODUCING LUKE BRITTON INTO THE SHOW. THE LIVE EPISODE/CALLUM'S MURDER-clearly a rip off modern day version of Brookside's body under the patio/Trevor Jordache's murder. |

I agree with some, but with some exceptions...
WELL WHERE DO I BEGIN..... NOT KILLING OFF Brian Packham, AXING Dennis Tanner, I am a fan of Dennis, but looking back much of the blame falls on Phil Collinson and the writers who brought him back into the show without properly thinking what to do with him. But I do feel sorry for Phillip Lowire, the character could have had potential and a new generation of Tanners introduced. Peter and Tina's affair-pathetic I agree, but... KILLING OFF TINA MCINTYRE-he should of left the door wide open. Disagree. She was in the show for over six-years and got a major exit. I am sure if she departed in the back of a cab you would complain. There was nothing left for her to come back to. THE WHO KILLED TINA storyline-pathetic. My only downside was the departure of Rob Donovan. KILLING OFF HAYLEY CROPPER. Disagree. NOT AXING ROY CROPPER-Roy and Hayley should of left away from the street, move to the countryside, after Hayley tracks down her birth mother. Selling the café, and having a happy ending. Roy is one of the few good actors on the show, it would be sad losing him. Creating and introducing THE NAZIR'S-just to prove a point that Corrie has had a token Muslim family. EMPLOYING LES DENNIS, as the DREADFUL Michael Rodwell. He was okay at the start but I find him tiresome. EMPLOYING SARAH HARDING She was only in it 4 episodes, I don't agree with how she was given the job but people need to get over it. EMPLOYING PADDY MCGUINESS He was a guest character and is in the past. Sean and the gay vicar storyline-pathetic. Creating Andrea, Another I didn't mind at the start, but then again anyone is bearable when it comes down to Michelle. The Andy/Gavin imposter storyline. Introducing Cathy, Hoping she will pick up after the live episode. Ken chasing after women so soon after Deirdre's death. We don't know what is happening with that yet. CASTING Stuart Wolfenden in the minor/guest role of Greig Hodge. Despite the fact that Stuart Wolfenden played full time character Mark Casey from 1989-1991. He (SB) should of just reintroduced Mark Casey as Jackson's dad. They would have came up with the character and story, then cast the actor who happened to be Stuart. Nick's brain tumour He had brain damage. I liked it and am gutted the story was swept under the carpet. Who's the daddy of Lily Platt. Not having Tina leave the street, and move away after reuniting with Tommy Duckworth. Tina's death was a good thing. Axing Tommy Duckworth/Sacking of Chris Fountain-actors have done worser things in real life. I doubt Blackburn made the decision. Plus Tommy was hardly a loss or that great a character. RECASTING TONY STEWART (ALAN IGABON WAS PERFECT IN THE ROLE) Disagree, the current Tony Stewart is great and so is the actor. THE LIVE EPISODE/CALLUM'S MURDER-clearly a rip off modern day version of Brookside's body under the patio/Trevor Jordache's murder. Because because Brookside did it 20 years ago doesn't mean other soaps can't carry out a similar plot. I am not saying Blackburn is flawless and hasn't done bad things, but that list was a bit over the top. |
