I can honestly say that a woman throwing the contents of a glass of wine , water, has been a dramatic common place action historically.
When this happens to a man they have to stand there and take it. That is unarguable. It's happened to me in my life. It happened to Louis Walsh with Sharon Osbourne.
The only other acceptable retaliation that is common knowledge is that you might throw the contents of your glass back the other way, as a bloke that actually makes you look like a "tart" that's a south london terminology, probably not that pc in today's society but correctly expresses what you look like if you retaliate in that way as a bloke.
If a bloke had retaliated by throwing two glasses 6 to 10 feet with force across a room at the womans head who had thrown the drink at him, that also had innocent bystanders in the way who had then got hit in the back of the head by the first glass and then thrown the second glass after. The bloke would have been arrested at the scene on the evening and put in a cell at a police station and charged with assault.
Any person on here making a defence of Farrah Abrahams actions change her sex to male and she would have been arrested and career suicide.
Why do violent women have there behaviour excused and made less serious than if a man had carried out these actions?

I am not sure I buy that. If a man when provoked, by something harmless but nevertheless sufficient to initiate the fight or flight response, had thrown something in response I don't believe he would have been arrested any more than a woman would.

I think though that it would be less instinctive for a man to throw an object. I think a man is more likely to use his own body as the defensive implement. I suspect, in that moment of shock and feeling under attack, a man would be more likely to throw a punch than pick up an object and hurl it.

In fights when men use an implement such as a glass or a bottle they don't tend to throw it. I would think it would be more likely for them to hold onto it and use it as a weapon under their own agency.

I think throwing stuff in moments of anger is quite a female thing and often they are thrown but not with any real intention to land on target or perhaps angry women are just lousy shots.

I'm not getting the logic either OP.

It's quite common for violence from women to be treated more leniently and that's really a disgrace in this modern society. On TV women are often portrayed as justified when they act violently against men or its portrayed as comedy slapstick.

Indeed it is a common perception but one not borne out by the statistical facts or the sociological research.

Actually I would argue that the central problem is general attitudes to different types of aggression. Verbal aggression and physical aggression which doesn't cause injury (e.g, spitting, throwing water etc) should not be treated so (relatively) lightly as they are.

If we levelled the playing field, that would address a lot of the gender inequality.
