EE Charlie - Off screen "death" mysteries in soaps
So the Charlie thing has got us talking. In most cases when we aren't shown anything or sometimes it involves characters who aren't even around Walford.
Den Watts and Kathy Beale being the most major examples. More recently there was mystery surrounding whether Mick killed Dean during the live episode. He returned a couple of months later. Until this day we don't know what happened to Jake Moon. There's a character who probably should've come back when they expanded the Moon family in 2011. Now there's no point, but I think they left the door open for him. Unless it's like Paul/Patrick and Dot identifies his body. BUT....Paul Trueman's death was not on screen and Patrick identified his body. So in terms of EE, Charlie could be in one of these categories. I believe tonight was Declan Bennett's last episode, so unless he makes an unannounced appearance down the line, it'll remain a mystery until the truth comes out. I think Vincent changing his clothes and that wallet in the dumpster are red herrings. The off screen "death" is a device that has been used in other soaps too. Happened very recently in Emmerdale with Ross Barton. It was to the point the actor tweeted about his departure. He came back soon after. Last year on Hollyoaks, Mercedes McQueen was apparently "murdered". It was all an elaborate set up in the end and a ploy to get someone else in trouble. |

He's obviously alive.
1) it was broad daylight 2) Vincent kept his clothes opposed to getting rid of them 3) The wallet was thrown in a bin on the square.. |

Charlie won't be dead - it's nice to leave it open in this way and remain a mystery.

Interesting post from The_abbott in another thread (hope he doesn't mind if I quote it): Quote:
Vincent and Claudette are planning something against the Mitchells. Charlie is alive and been told to stay away
This is a really good theory actually. If DTC is smart he will go down this route. Remember when Claudette said that Phil Mitchell would get what's coming to him after he beat the crap out of Vincent? Maybe Vincent is using Ronnie to get to Phil in some way. Charlie is being let off the hook now since he's now against Ronnie. Perhaps Vincent told Charlie of his plan off screen and paid him off with a big fat sum of money.

The strangest one was Rosemary Sinclair's 'death' in Emmerdale. Rosemary went missing completely out of the blue and after a while the villagers starting finding little hints and clues that she'd in fact been murdered. It was then revealed through her son Grayson (we didn't actually see her though) that she had faked the whole thing in order to frame her stepson Matthew who she loathed. However a further twist saw it revealed that she had killed herself for real whilst in hiding after faking her death! With this also occurring off-screen I thought it was a double bluff and looked forward to her Kim Tate style return from the dead but it sadly never happened. We never actually saw her die, we never even saw her leave the village. We were simply told she had left, then told she had been killed, then told she had faked it, then told she was dead again. It was most bizarre.

I find it weird how, in daylight, they chucked Charlie's wallet in the bin on the square. Carl also did this with a photo of Shirley and Heather before Shirley disappeared. Can't they atleast get the evidence totally away from the square! Somehow Billy managed to put Lucy's photos in the bin in broad daylight without anyone noticing!

Seems a bit far fetched. I mean Claudette seems to be pissed off Vincent is having a fling with Ronnie. And why would Charlie buy this story even if it was true? Ronnie still has his son and he's meant to just stay away?

I believe Charlie is alive and he will make another appearance in the near future. There is likely something planned. It's too risky for Vincent and Ronnie to have murdered Charlie. There would be blood everywhere which means they would have to scrub her house inside out to eliminate any evidence of him being there.

Same. Jake was a really good character. There was a chance to bring him back when they expanded the Moon family after Alfie returned in 2010. Jake and Michael could've had some entertaining scenes.
I liked Jake, didn't like it when he had to look after the brat that was Ruby though i was so happy he turned on her in the end though. |
