I did too - until he nominated Austin. I liked James but I felt he had come that far with Austin - he could have stuck by him - his sin was no worse than anyone else in the house. I thought the public would have been more outraged at that.

Fair point, but I still thought he had it. I thought James' reasoning was all over the place with both the Janice pick and Austin nomination; but that didn't seem to be the general interpretation and most people bought that he was doing it for Austin's own good.

To be fair Dee James nominating Austin probably won him second place. Had James not nominated him the foul outbursts would be the resonating scenes on Tuesday and it is likely that he would have been evicted. Even without James he still had 3 noms so would have still been up.
James' nomination got Austin attention for a different reason and took the sting out of the more recent outbursts. I suspect that by diverting attention from those angry scenes, he didn't leave on Tuesday and was still there for the final. I think Janice's attitude to him in her eviction interview also helped his redemption.

I agree that James did Austin a favour by nomming him as like you I think he would have been out on Tuesday.
Anyhow I am happy with the winner, he ws not my first choice but so glad that it was not Austin or Clovie.

I had not thought of it that way - I think you are probably right
I didn't like James at all, shame he won over my fave Austin who i think was by far the most rounded and interesting of all of them, not to mention entertaining. James was like a snake who slithered through the series. Anyone who saw his audition for The Apprentice knows he considers himself a player in life, and no doubt is fairly unlikable in real life, because driven people like he seems to be are often unpleasant users. The 'bromance' was, i feel, totally for the cameras, and he knew Austin was his biggest competition, so kept him close, which was a smart move since he was proven right. Austin was good looking, big personality, AND gay!! he was always going to be popular and James knew this. I doubt they will keep in contact after this though. I am not even sure James is as gay friendly as he has made out, just a hunch. he's a user.
Yawn...but that yawn pretty much sums my feeling for the whole final.
Honestly though...I would have loved to have Daniel and Gail stay longer. Can't even remember who else was there. What a boring series.
