I'm delighted Austin finished in the top two. James was my clear favourite until last week when he 'saved Janice' then subsequently nominated Austin. I really believe this was done deliberately to trigger an Austin outburst and lose him some votes. I think James saw Austin as his main competition after the top 4 were announced last week.
I still like James, he played a good game but I think Austin may have edged it without James calculated (imo) move..

I disagree, I think James nominating him probably gave him a huge sympathy vote. As you said yourself James was your favourite until last week when you changed to Austin because of the nomination.

I completely agree.

James wanted to SAVE Austin from being a knob and showing he was aggressive and unreasonable.

He nommed him because none of this was working and Austin was losing it and also being personally horrible to him.

James isn't responsible for Austin's aggression, but after being nommed Austin STOPPED being horrible, so that worked. He also showed his vulnerability and apologised in a heartfelt manner. And he nearly won.

If James hadn't given a toss about Austin he'd have let him carry on and on, or fed the flames like Jenna always did with him, then withdraw completely.

James is the key to Austin's success in this show. With the other housemates, he DIDN'T SHOW how sweet, silly and funny he could really be. He was just bitchy and aggressive and resentful.

Of course, James also benefited hugely from his relationship with Austin.

I think Austin was a fantastic HM & so deserved to be in the final 2. Yes, the way he spoke to Janice was disgusting but he did seem genuinely remorseful.
However there was so much more to him than that, we got to see every side of Austin & that's what I want from a HM, to be entertaining & imo, he was certainly that.
He wasn't my winner but out of him & James, I'd have preferred Austin to win.

If he is your idea of an admirable human being the sooner an asteroid comes and wipes us all out the better.

I'm not sure where I said he was admirable

I said the way he spoke to Janice was disgusting but imo. he seemed remorseful. For me CBB/BB is an entertainment show & I found Austin to be entertaining.
Over the years, there's been lots of HMs I've disliked but I've been happy to see them remain in the House purely because I've found them amusing.
These people don't affect my life therefore I can't take it too seriously.

Enjoyed reading your posts Very much how I feel. Some of the over the top vitriol on here against Austin and against those that like him is quite baffling and upsetting really. He messed up big time but people do however he has apologised profusely, what else is someone supposed to do

Not say it in the first place, maybe, anyone can apologise. He meant what he said, otherwise why say it?

Ideally yes but it was said and yes he meant it but regret came and he is clearly sorry for it now, well I believe so. I remember Janice doing a million and one bad things but she too always apologised. I think Farrah was probably the only HM that went too far and never apologised or regretted in anyway the things she said. Is she to be more respected for this because anyone can apologise

That's exactly how I see it.

But in a fit of temper we've all said things we don't mean, I know I have & as soon as it's out, there's no taking it back so the only thing you can do is apologise?

Add that to living in such an intense environment where there is no escape from the people who are driving you nuts, surely it's inevitable that someone will erupt.
As trevor tiger said, he apologised profusely & the people living with him didn't seem to have a problem accepting his apology.

I just think it is too easy to apologise, I mean how can you be sorry for saying such disgusting things. You must be thinking about them to say them. I have no time for Farrah but why should she apologise if she meant the things she said? Just because it is expected of her?

Well I do have a temper but I have never said the sort of things that Austin has said to anyone. If I have lost my temper I usually say what I have wanted to say for a long time

I do agree about the intense environment but that is no excuse for the things he said to Janice.

I actually don't think it is easy to apologise at all. Pride and fear of admitting you're wrong makes it actually very difficult.

I'm sure everyone has said something they regret and hurt people so it isn't unusual territory, then it's just down to whether you think the apology is sincere or not. I believe Austin maybe you don't and there's obviously not a lot we can do about that.

I don't personally care whether Farrah apologises or not. I only mentioned it because you said that anyone can apologise, well obviously she can't.

I agree. Sorry doesn't always make it right either. You may forgive, but what he said was spiteful and hard to forget imo.

Yes I agree it was awful what he said to her & but I think Janice & the other HMs accepting his apology says a lot. Even in his eviction interview he stressed how bad he felt about it.
It was on one occasion where he'd probably reached the end of his tether with Janice & much as I love her as a HM, she would push even the most placid person to their limit.
Obviously if he'd said it on a daily basis then there would be no excuse.
Anyway I think I'll join the "agree to disagree" club.

Couldn't agree more with you and Trevor T.

Got to love all the hilariously ironic sanctimonous 'unforgiveness' on here. Janice saw it for what it was and, would, I imagine, be eyerolling madly and telling people to get a grip.

Calling a 60+ year old lady a "c*nt" ?? Sorry, utter trash.”

Janice got a warning in first few days for her behaviour and she banded the C word around constantly !

I think Austin was a great HM, even if he was bit cringe with James at times, who just seemed to love the attention - but without Austin it would have been very dull - and i'd have preferred him to have won than James, who I thought was really wet and bit of a schemer.

I think Austin's best bits could have had more than just his friendship with James though., His husband seemed like a nice guy too.

Of course she would, everyone getting offended on Janice's behalf is a bit silly since she clearly won't give it another thought.
Janice herself said she'd like to stay in touch with Austin & the likelihood is, she'll probably never set eyes on him again but even her saying this puts things into a bit of perspective.

BIB she didn't half, therefore Austin calling her it will have whooshed right over her head, Janice Dickinson is not only as mad as a box of frogs, she's as hard as nails & I'm sure Austin (much as I loathe the c word) calling her that will have been water of a duck's back.
Agree with rest of your post.
