Corrie: Roy's shopping bag
Does he have to take it everywhere with him?
He even brought it along on his date with Cathy. And how about changing that grubby coat of his..? |

I think they said in the live thingy the bags a tribute to David's mum or something, the coat and bag are seriously ugly though but in turn so Royston Cropper just like Haley's red anorak i guess.
They will have to find something for Cathy now like Alan's eyelashes in a baggy or something lol. |

People like Roy totally need to live by their routines and tend to hate change of any kind. Roy feels secure with his 'safe' habitual things around him. He cares nothing for 'fashion'.
David Nielson plays the part to absolute perfection. |

David Nielson plays the part to absolute perfection. He doesn't even have a second coat. Just the one. |

He does but don't you think having the same coat and bag for twenty years is a bit silly though.
He doesn't even have a second coat. Just the one. Anyway, it won't be the same one - when it needs replacing he almost certainly goes out of his way to find one as near identical as he can. David Nielson has mentioned that Roy does indeed have some autistic traits. |

Here is a section from 'Roy's' Wikipedia page .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Cropper 'Described as "remarkably intelligent, but socially naïve", Roy Cropper is a pure atheist. He is a fan of buses and trains, wears a beige anorak, scarf, woollen gloves and clutching a nylon shopping bag with a set of keys taped to the handle.[10][11] Actor David Neilson has since revealed that his character's "infamous old shopping bag", complete with attached keys, were props that he introduced. The bag and keys belonged to Neilson's mother, who died shortly before he took on the role in 1995. He has commented, "My mum sadly passed away just before I started on the show and I wanted to carry something of hers. I also wanted to add my own props and develop the character. The bag carries nothing more than my script."[11] " |
