People have a past shocker ...

If we took titles away from people for criminal acts we wouldn't have a Government or a royal family. In fact sounds like a great idea

Not really though.

It's an interesting point.

Tilia said nazis aren't so bad = kicked off the show. There was massive controversy about barrymore and he was never convicted of anything.

In TV world, as far as violence goes, its a redeemable crime. There are others that aren't and however long ago it happened the person wouldn't get on the show.

I know, crazy isn't it!

Better not watch a Will Smith or Robert Downey Jr film, any episodes of Stephen Fry's QI or the hundreds of other people who appear on our TV/Film screens or release music, run businesses, become MP's.

Even worse was Chloe over the summer, being vilified for having a father in prison, as if it were her fault!

I've always thought British people were all for second chances, backing the underdog, encouraging growth and change, but I do have to say I sometimes wonder.

The Apprentice knew about James' past, they said that because it was over a certain number of years ago, it was acceptable for him to participate. Almost like a statute of limitations on holding your past over you

Well Alan is a Lord or somesuch nonsense, which basically means despite any rumours (many in print) about his allegedly dodgy past he's allowed to make untold millions at taxpayers' expense. A prime example if you will

Ha! Perish the thought. He's in prison now, anyway.

Crikey!!!

Maybe .... just maybe James has learned from his mistakes, maybe he's remorseful and having paid his price has moved on and become a better person for it.

Glitter has remained unrepentant and has continued to re-offend, accepting no responsibility for his henious crimes.

Until James goes on the rampage and bites someone else's lughole off then this is not the slightest bit comparable.

Why don't they just install cameras in prisons and then set them tasks to wind each other up?

Oh wait...

Agree ^

I think this is where his grandad has helped him. I judged James on what he was like in the house not from his past and from day 1 he was my winner. He has learnt that shouting at someone doesn't get you anywhere. A good lesson to remember.

This is a difficult world we live in and as humans we should be encouraging others who are trying to make their life better, not reminding them or attacking them for their mistakes.

Nope. If you put yourself out there in the public eye, you will be scrutinized. It's the price to pay. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

Please don't be offended but I can never take anyone seriously who picks their winner from day 1.

I enjoyed watching him on The Apprentice so that's why I liked him from day 1. He made me laugh with his antics. I think he has grown up now while watching him on CBB.

Can you take me seriously now?

No it's not. You're just dragging the past for some unfathomable reason. It has absolutely nothing to do with you or anyone at this point.

I find it all extremely sordid and particularly reprehensible.

Of all the sleazy posts online these are definitely the worst

Not at all. Celebs are only scrutinized because there are people out there that do not have the wit or the wisdom to find things to talk about other than scandalous nonsense.

In your opinion of course people will have opinions on celebrities part of the course if you do reality shows

Going by memory here but pretty sure the Health and Safety fine was over candles on the bar top.

ETA I don't judge HMs by their past, only on how they are in the house.

Well obviously you think it's ok and not all sleazy to bring up the past but I certainly don't. I'd rather talk about the housemates current actions.

But I'm in a minority. I do think sensationalizing James's past is just extremely unfair. We don't know the full extent of the story and the truth could be very different to the one portrayed by the media or even by the courts.
