Aw bless, Carol has officially been crowned The Duffer
I don't think we've ever seen aerial work in week 1.
Prop overload, heavy handed music choice, and no dancing for the first third of the routine. I really like Carol, but I don't think we'll be seeing Pasha in the final this year |

I really like Carol too and I did suspect she wouldn't be very good. It doesn't help her that some of the others have obviously done a lot of dancing before.

Forgetting most of the middle of the routine didn't help, either.

She should have been pared up with Anton.
He likes to have the duffer so he can play it for laughs. All those 3rd rate weather related jokes like cold and warm fronts would be right up his street too. |

No, because then we wouldn't have seen Pasha hanging from a lightening bolt.
It was worth it for that alone. |

Phew! Now I'll only have to fast forward through a few minutes of a couple of episodes of ITT. Carol's fine until she starts talking in that irritating over exaggerated gushy manner.

I didn't think it was awful. Some good moments throughout. Still the worst of the night and only a 5 of 10 performance.

BBC no doubt pressured her into entering, by way of cross promoting brekky TV and SCD,. Met office weather gang are probably off limits.

Apart from this... VERY NSFW, if you like him don't click (just a lyric parody - but his fans get Humpty about it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ci3v-ZHqWMs |

When she admitted on BBC Breakfast before doing the weather that she couldn't dance, this was the moment that many people on this forum thought she was going to really struggle. |

She wasn't totally awful. The ballroom might be ok.

Cha Cha always looks like old folk dancing if it isn't spot on.
Some of those doing the waltz might get found out. Not saying waltz is easy but people don't tend to look silly. Can't wait for Daniel's cha cha. She was bad though. Might be first out. |

A bit early yet. First dance (nervous) and only half of the celebs have performed. Jeremy still to go.
She might still be good at ballroom like Michael Vaughan. And Daniel hasn't shown us his Latin. She was not the only one to waste time. Anita did too (more so I think) and Anita repeated a lot of similar steps although what she did do was to a better standard. But no, don't think we'll see them in the final. |

Well they could not have Pasha in with a chance of winning it twice could they.

The problem is that she's not bad enough for entertainment purposes. She's just someone who needs more time to learn. She might have a minor journey if she stays long enough. (Yes, journey...got to be referred to sometime!)
I'm missing a Nancy Del'Olio or Quentin Wilson. Someone who is monumentally bad and whom the judges can shoot at. And who will take it in good humour (which to be fair Carol did) or refuse to acknowledge it (Jan Ravens) and fight back. |

She wasn't great, but she was better than duffers of the past.

She's also in her fifties and therefore not as flexible as the younger ones.
It's a bit mean to give anyone a cha cha, jive or any other fast dance in the first week. A slower dance in hold would be much kinder to get them used to performing in front of an audience and boost their confidence even if they don't do it perfectly. Give them a week to settle in. |

Carol was the worst to dance last night as you say she will not be in the competition for long never mind make the final unless she is this years Judy in terms of public votes.

Carol kept smiling, even in the face of Craig's comments. Carol and Pasha could be popular with the public and the Breakfast audience, and that might just keep them out of the dance off.

I'd rate her above Judy already, as at least she moved about a bit and had a go!
She is certainly well below par though, but seems well liked and I suspect that she will outstay her welcome for many of us, and quite possibly see off one or two half-decent dancers. IMO her and Daniel have got "why are they still in it?" written all over them! |
