It looked more like a pop video than a proper Latin dance and his hip movements were incredibly jerky. I don't think the choreography helped - too little actual cha cha cha in it.

Well Jay is on top of the tellymix vote by quite a long way 😀
That poll was started yesterday and doesn't fully reflect tonight's dances. It might well change once people have had a chance to vote on tonight's performances,

I missed something too. Whilst I freely admit to taking the piss out of him, I was really looking forward to Peter's cha cha and still do not understand why it was performed as an aggressive, staccato number.

I agree. Some balance issues on the spins but a really nice routine and good performance

Yes, I agree. It was nothing like a cha cha.
I agree his was not a cha cha, I don't think he should have been top at all, but Georgia wasn't great for me either.
I think Katies jive was much better then hers and her action in feet and legs too.

Watch out Andre, Jay has real potential and is a lot less frantic and overblown than you. Mind you that could be Janette's choreo, which has always been OTT and just manic.

Katie is elegance personified with legs to die for.
I agree with every word.

I just hope Jay can bring it, to sell yourself in a dance is not something everyone can learn, some think it is the easiest thing to learm, however it can be one of the hardest things to learn and teach, sometimes you either have it or you don't.

I agree, but I suppose we shall have bash Peter Andre threads every week he is still in.
That or *gasp* people just have different opinions to you

He's a good mover, but that was a poor Cha Cha.

Janette is a salsa dancer....she has no clue on ballroom. Peter has potential, but is stuck with a poor pro (salsa) dancer.

Jay did a genuine CCC...both Helen and Anita were far stronger too.

Given that he was also leading I would say Peter (& Janette) was just about the best dancer with Georgia. I think those two were the best on this first weekend: then "Rani, Helen, Kellie, Jay, Katie" in the next batch.

I thought the leader board was pretty fair. I thought Peter's was the best dance of the night, and it's not as if he was marked way above everyone else. It was pretty close at the top.

The best sellers were Georgia, Peter, Katie, Ainsley . Although her jive wasn't perfect I would put Georgia top . She has great chemistry with Giovanni, along with being able to sell the dance . Also they had great music to dance to .

I thought Peter was far better then Jay . It was a bit fast but they matched the beat of the music . A good first dance though from a very nervous Jay .

Jay was good but Peter was more natural - which won him the votes.

I think Anita, Georgia & Katie were right up there too.

He was only better in the way he sold it, match up their actual dancing and Jay wins hands down, what Peter did didn't even look like a chacha. His technique outstrips Peters, but as I have said before a dance is a package and if you cannot sell it, well people don't see what you can actually do.

That would be down to Janette's interpretation of the music. They had an awesome song which has many accents in the music and she chose to highlight this by incorporating staccato and jolty moves into the choreography. It worked in places but overall it lost the sinuous quality associated with the Cha Cha. I've watched their dance back and he brought showmanship (not my cup of tea, mind) but he sold his performance with bundles of confidence and attitude.

If Jay can get a handle on his nerves, he has massive potential.

He seems like a lovely man, too. Self-effacing and thoughtful.
I agree, I had never heard of him until last night, but he is definitely my favourite.

i missed friday's show so can't compare there, but i think overall peter's probably was the best dance of saturday night taking into account all factors - ability, performance, technique.

he's a bit cringey as a personality, but he managed to rein that in in his dancing, and i enjoyed the performance.

I think Peter's was probably the most entertaining dance, but not technically a good CCC. The opposite to Jay, who put on a decent tech performance but due to nerves didn't really "sell it" as well - but as time goes on things will (hopefully) even out.

I think Peter's dance was trying to be more of a wow factor style, like a show dance for e.g., whereas Helen, Georgia, Anita,Jay and Katie were good while keeping the dance they were doing recognisable. Kellie was ok, but needs to improve.

i agree, and Georgia is really fun to watch, her dancing was good, she also cheers for the other couples.

and a message to other posters over here, don't compare Georgia to Chelsee.

i found Chelsee annoying in her season.

I thought Andre was far to mincy and camp. Even though it's the cha cha the man still needs to show his masculinity.

what I found interesting was Len, He would normally slate a Dance with no Ballroom content but with Peter's effort He went over the top with his praise

is there an agenda?

the Dance was choreographed around Peter's way of dancing and ended up as pop video

Either you are part of Georgias PR team or you really REALLY need some help.

He hasn't dine that in years really, the odd one or two (Nataline G springs to mind), but especially last year he heaped a lot of praise on dances with little content and scored them high too.
