Like Craig, I thought it was the most sophisticated jive we've seen on Strictly, very cleverly choreographed for Katie. That might go over the heads of some, of course.

You started a new thread just to say that? When you could have just added to the vitriol on the other two Anton threads. I am voting for him week in week out now just for shits and giggles.

I agree. He was an embarrassment and I felt sorry that she is saddled with him.

She is 45 but looks and dances like she's 35. I think she could get to the final, but might lose out to someone younger, like Jay or Helen. If she won, she would be the oldest winner yet.

Mmmmm. I don't think so . Anton is a professional dancer who has won championship awards. Katie? Not that I can recall. Nice try though

It's the right of every voting viewer to 'put their money where their mouth is,' and if your votes keep Katie and Anton in the contest - so be it.

Perhaps someone should start a new thread entitled "I hate the thought that Anton has a decent partner and might do quite well this year."
Really enjoyed the dance by the way. Hope Katie teaches him the ballroom dance next week as well as she taught him the jive. 😄 Katie is a wonderful and really musical dancer, I reckon it will turn into a magical partnership. |

I think she was undermarked. That was an 8 dance.

Well, people clearly liked them.
Twitter was full with messages about their dance (and her legs). And on the Strictly facebook page she is only behind Peter, Anita and Helen in the number of likes (heck, she has 2.000 more likes then Jay and even almost 3.000 more likes then Georgia and her Jive )

Anton has had more than one decent partner. I don't dislike him so why the hell should I hate the fact that he has a decent partner?
![]() I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest however that Katie may well turn out to be his best. Apart from Lesley Garrett in the first series there has never been anyone that had a chance of winning, and it wouldn't have mattered who they'd been partnered with. I'll believe you when you say the thread wasn't intended to be vitriolic,(to be fair the second.contributor took the ball and ran with it in a far more negative fashion), but the statement *Katie was better then Anton" is hardly a statement of fact as you claim, it's an opinion, and (even if you accept it) views things from the perspective that a partnership in Strictly should be judged like a professional partnership, and not through the prism of a professional trying to make their amateur partner look as good as possible. If indeed she was better then he's done a good job teaching her, and it wouldn't have hurt to stick something along those lines on the end of the five word original statement. |

The reason Katie was so good is because she had an excellent, patient and imaginative teacher.
I am pi**ed off by the relentless nastiness about Anton.

![]() Firstly Anton was her teacher. Secondly he choreographed a routine which was nicely balanced between teacher and pro and showed her off (which is how it should be; it's about the celeb). He may or may not have had help with the latter (I have no idea) but it was a good routine and Anton's Latin, not great, was good enough to do the required job. They get one go at each of the dances, with a lot of basics to learn, and so his latin should be adequate to teach Katie. And it gives me high hopes for the ballroom, and even a decent paso (which is a Latin dance but more friendly to ballroom dancers). Just to add that the much maligned James Jordan, a Latin dancer, whilst having a bit of a laugh on twitter about Anton having to exert himself in his "favourite dance" and nearly falling over, was generous enough to acknowledge this could be Anton's year and urge him to go for it. Shame everyone else can't take the same attitude. |

Loved Katie's dress and she looked fab. Thought her technique was pretty good and his choreography was decent. I reckon ballroom will be her forte. Although she desperately wants to do a samba with Anton in tow it'll never be the stuff of her Rio dreams; more tame than torrid.

I don't think Katie was better than Anton at all, but the fact that she was very good is testament to his teaching, which a lot of people don't seem to want to give him credit for. I think some people are a bit disappointed that their latin wasn't the disaster they were expecting, so they are making out Anton was terrible instead. I enjoyed their jive a lot more than Giovanni's with Georgia, where he completely out-danced her and made her look slow and heavy-legged.

I loathe Anton, but props to him for actually recognising he has someone with ability and giving her a proper dance.

yes of course katie could only do what anton choreographed and taught her. she was great - fun, sophisticated, elegant, able.
however anton had to ruin it by his constant showboating both in the dancing and in all the chat - he over danced in comparison to her understated elegant delivery and he didn't allow her any time to speak or reflect at all with all his 'oh so humorous' capering about. i think he's forgotton who the celeb is - again. its all about him in his eyes. poor katie, she deserves better. |
