what do you think it will be about this year? what family do you think will take centre stage? last year Christmas was a bit of a letdown but the new years day episode was brilliant, I genuinely thought Ronnie died.

I think it will be Mitchell's / Beales Xmas yep, we know it's a Carter new year (hopefully lots of packed pub scenes).

Don't want a Masood Xmas really - the last one they had was probably the worst xmas Enders I've ever seen.

Bryan Kirkwood was in charge, wasn't really their fault. They had a fantastic NY episode with Syed and Amira's wedding in 2010 though.

I think they'll have a secondary storyline for either Christimas or New Year. Hopefully a surprise Zainab return.

I think it's going to be one big Mitchell/Beale-fest. I cannot wait.

Hopefully it will centre around the sociopath McBeale finally being brought to account for her disgusting crimes.

Loathsome woman.

Thanks.

I think the Masoods will have a secondary storyline but I think Xmas will be all about the Mitchells and the Beales. I think Kathy will find out about Bobby, Sharon finds out about Gavin etc

Because they are an important family in Eastenders

They do. It's called Eid and they celebrate it in September.

and I loved the masood's last xmas story. The yusef storyline was brilliant. It was well planned, well written and well acted storyline. Still remains one of my fav set of xmas episodes.

I don't think people should get their hopes up about a Masood centric Xmas. Don't get me wrong - they deserve it but Nitin said the storyline continues until Xmas time. I loved the 2011 Masood Xmas. We need Zainab back

I'd definitely prefer an ensemble Christmas because then there is something for everyone. I don't think the Carters are bad either, they have just had some bad material. Denise/Kim/Patrick need some big material, they are woefully underused, especially Denise.

I'm not sure, but someone will ruin the turkey. That is a given.

I'm in no way racist, but I wouldn't want a Masood Christmas, as their last Christmas was awful, and they don't really celebrate Christmas, so it didn't really feel like a Christmas episode.

Their New Years episodes in 2010 were fantastic though.

Mick Carter in a wet suit sorting out Dean once and for all..........and as for the Masood family and Christmas, if only Christians celebrated Christmas is would be a very quiet time...as the Church services prove.....

I really agree with this. Christmas 2009 was outstanding and early 00's quality. However, last Christmas, EastEnders was so dull, and there was only a focus on a few families

My problem with last Christmas was that it was predominately the rape reveal. A rape reveal on Christmas is in bad taste, imo. Almost the entire episode focused on just Mick/Linda.

I think the Shirley/Mick reveal, as well as seeing other families dramas, and celebrating Christmas would have been fine. I liked the idea of Sylvie accidentally spilling the beans without knowing she had. But instead they went for almost an hour about rape, which isn't what you want to watch on Christmas day, and is not a subject that she used to gain viewers. It should have come before or after, imo.

I think it will be a Beale/Mitchell christmas and a Carter new year.

I agree with Ell_Ren though that an ensemble christmas with various families storylines reaching their peak or conclusion over the christmas period and also some light relief from the more background comedy based characters (because its christmas.)

Completely agree! I think a soap needs all of those elements during the Christmas ep. They need that balance of drama, comedy and characters.

According to the Sun TV Magazine, Kellie Bright said that the Carters will have a busy Xmas and she said she can't wait to film Mick and Linda's wedding. I reckon Mick and Linda will get married on Christmas Day and NYD will be disastrous for the Carters because of the Dean situation/the stunt.
