Don't know about you but I absolutely loved it - it's a 9 from me!

Loved how it covered all different styles of dance.

I'm not a fan of these cruise-ship entertainment numbers. These pros are fantastic ballroom dancers, so why not have a fantastic ballroom dance?

I'm more concerned about the celeb's dances being hard to recognise as the dances they were supposed to do.

The music choice was good for the pro number. I would have liked to see more content related to the dances the show is supposed to be based on, but with them hiring pros who are not that familiar with those dances, I can see why they choreograph as they do. It was a bit of everything and everyone thrown into the mix.

Its OK but unlikely to be very impressive.

Loved it but gutted the song won't be used by a couple on strictly.

Well, this year anyway.

I didn't like it. It was very bitty and disjointed. To my surprise, I found myself wishing they could do a bit more of a traditional ballroom dance. This was not ballroom, Latin, or fusion .. just a mish-mash of styles and costumes stuck together, with no pattern or focus. Chaep and tacky .. I could only give it a 3 out of ten.

Couldn't concentrate on anything, so couldn't enjoy it very much. Seemed haphazard, and the camera switching was odd. Please don't make everything a show-dance/freestyle...most of us like the traditional stuff! 5/6

I gave it a 3 as well. I couldn't figure out what was going on. What were Brendan and Aliona enacting - Cabaret? If so, who was Brendan and why was he dressed like that?

Also what sadist dressed Joanne in those too-thick hideous socks? (like she isn't having a bad enough series already?) Why not at least give her a pro partner in the first pro dance since she's otherwise so sadly alone these two weeks - I assume in week 3 the first out pro will join her in the clauditorium to make it less sad to watch her up there.

So much was wrong with this thing, I don't know where to begin, and I usually love pro dances. Can't remember disliking one so much as this one. I only liked the bit where they were partnered up in formation doing all those lifts and ballroom dance steps.

I thought it was quite cute, and at least had a bit of genuine personality for a bog-standard latin/pop dance if they're going to do them, but I've no idea why it didn't happen during Movie Week.

It's a bit of an all sorts dance, there's a bit of Greece and Dirty Dancing, Charleston and Joanne was Fame. I presume Brendan was Singing in the Rain but no idea why he was dressed like that other than to just carry the black and white theme through! Having watched it again I quite enjoyed it - more the second time than the first.

Ohhh - thanks J R. I'm a Luddite and I've never seen Fame or Dirty Dancing ahemm. I have, however, seen every Fred and Ginger film except that sacrilege The Barkleys of Broadway and can recite much of the dialogue

Anyway, some parts of that may have to remain a mystery - and maybe that's part of the fun. Will try harder to enjoy it - Kevin as MJ was quite something

I am a big Fred and Ginger fan too and like you have deliberately avoided The Barkleys. I'm a dance fan in general though so enjoy most (not all) of the dance films. Dirty Dancing is one of my favourites - not for the story (stories in most of these films are sketchy) just for the dance routines. You have answered a question for me though as I had no idea who Kevin was supposed to be I just thought he looked a bit of a dork in the hat - sorry to Kevin fans. I do think MJ was a brilliant modern dancer though- as did Fred Astaire apparently.

Maybe they should have just left Michael Jackson alone as I can't think who'd have been a better choice - but Kevin? Sheesh. Talk about sacrilege! (he'd have made a passable Gene Kelly with white socks and loafers - I hated Kelly btw - talk about showboating - well, there again, Kevin would have suited quite well)

My inner musicals geek think the dancers were:

Brendan- Singin' In the Rain
Aliona- Cabaret
Kristina- Marilyn Monroe?
Natalie & Anton- Fred & Ginger (she had feathery sleeves...)
Oti- some Charleston film... Chicago?
Giovanni- Jail House Rock
Janette & Aljaz- Dirty Dancing
Kevin- Michael Jackson
Karen- ?? Rita Hayworth? Carmen Miranda? West Side Story? No idea
Joanne- Flashdance
Gleb- Sat Night Fever
Ola & Pasha- Greas
All- Thriller

I liked it.

Great job, dippy! I love how they made Brendan open with Aliona, despite there being no reason at all - seeing as how he hates her

I should up my score... A Len Severrrnnnnn then!

Brendan also may have the pleasure of watching Aliona become the first pro to win twice - wonder how that will go down with him

Yes!! Thank you. I was going to post to see if we could piece together all the references. I got some like Flashdance, and quite a few others but will go back to watch it!

it was ok

I miss the days of pro dances when they were traditional ballroom and latin dances

I also miss the days when the pros showcased what the celebs would be doing the following week by way of a pro dance

they are all a bit frantic and messy these days

and what the heck was Jo wearing

I think Brendan was suppose to be playing the person from the Shut Up and Dance video the song is by a group Called Walk The Moon, it is quite a current song and in the video they do dancing and focus on the one man and woman in particular shouthing shut up and dance with me, there is also crowd behind them, as well as non group parts in the video.

He hates her soooo much, he employed her for his tour when his regular partner was injured .
