eta Saw your addition, if we voted we would cancel each out. I would not vote for the ex wife of Colin Campbell (I refuse to use titles, difficult to know how to refer to her) unless it was down to her and Vicky.eta2 Do you have a tablet of any sort? |

They are giving her a lot of BT time I must admit.
She's very used to giving this type of days end monologue as its integral to Geordie Shore |

This is a 7" screen.
The onscreen keyboard is quite good actually. I'm not as fast on it as I am on a conventional keyboard but quick enough ![]() £35 is a good price for the fire tablet.

The Fire has quite good reviews, I have reservations about being tied to Amazon but hesitant because I am not sure how much I would use it as I rarely use my phone as a means of accessing the Internet at home.
eta I have looked at a comparison table, the price really jumps up for larger screens.

Generally I use the desktop if I'm on the net for any length of time.
But the tablet definitely does come in handy and these days it's rarely out of reach

I have to have a rethink about my IT as the desktop is on its last legs, everyone raves about their iPads or tablets, the only one who said they were not pleased bought a cheap one for less than £100, never got to grips with it.

I think a lot depends on what you actually plan to use the tablet for.
They are a nice addition to a "main" PC but I wouldn't consider mine as a replacement for PC. |

I have a small laptop, 13.3" screen, that will run Office 10, connect to the printer etc, it is annoying to use for writing as the cursor jumps about, I tried turning off the touchpad but no improvement.
I looked at desktops but the end price crept up as I added all the essentials. A large screen laptop may be better value. One of the main uses is watching downloads. edit Thanks for TAR link, I will wait for smaller version, the sound on 720s tends to be too low on my PC. |

Something I've been pondering on getting is a cheap android set top box.
It's quite surprising just how much processing power you can get for £35 in a set top box format. 2gb ram / 8gb from will play any video you throw at it and runs firefox. All on the TV through HDMI at 1080p Edit - They can even play 4k video which a lot of PCs will stumble on. |

Would that have a wireless connection with the Internet? Is it better than using a Raspberry Pi?
I think Tan plays all his videos on his tv from his laptop, wirelessly. It can stream from your pc or phone or pretty much any networked device straight out to the tv. Here's a review of the one I was thinking of getting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DaeK_xUfELM And they're currently on amazon and ebay for £38 delivered Sorry about the slow reply I actually got up and switched the pc on

Yep they are more powerful than Raspberry Pi's and in particular can play the new h.265 video format flawlessy which will beome more popular as its has a very good compression ratio for high quality video.

Thanks for the link, I would never think to look on YouTube for a review. I will watch it before asking questions.

The main thing I wanted you to see in that review was just how well it plays video from anywhere on the network. ![]() The gaming shows off the gfx capabilities and cpu power, its no slouch. |
