He wants an excuse to do nothing.

Their kids are heading into their 30s but Ami and Billy want them slaving at home.

Noah does not take orders or do what is useful, he prefers to recycle existing ideas.

He is sending his tribe off to work a day for tin.

It is very odd that at least one hasn't left or even shows a sign of leaving.

His white sock was very white, as is Gabe's vest, I suspect a washing machine and chemicals.

Sunning himself on the boat while the lads do the work.

I suspect that they don't really use Noah's cycle dryer.

There may be another who has left and as with leaving some cults, cease to exist. There is an age gap between Bam and Gabe.

A lack of volunteers to cycle? Noah should do it as he is porky for a teenager.

eta

The tin did not cover the whole roof to the edge.

Being in a house with a tin roof when raining would be very noisy.

They claim to have no tv so listening to the rain would be entertainment. Tin roofs are used a lot in Australia, opposite climate to SE Alaska.

Noah has pretensions, he dabbles at things.

The continuity is odd, they are putting in a water tank presumably after the haulage run so they all get back in one piece.

Ami also.

She wasn't wearing a sling when going into the root cellar in fact she was carrying stuff with her bad arm but when the boys were laving on the trip she had it back on.

She had a small bowl of potatoes in one arm and holding a basket of next to nothing for the root cellar, not enough spuds in the bowl for one meal hardly worth getting excited about storing them. A family of 9 would need sack loads of carbs living and working outdoors.
