I replayed that, Rodney's feet touched the ground before he went back in the pit.

I thought that also but after the third time of replaying it I think Rodney's foot was on the edge of the sandbag.

I will have another look after this, I think he is out of time if he makes it up the rope.

The first shot of him being thrown out his foot is on the dust beyond the bags, later it shows him kicking off from the ground.

I played it again at half speed and at 23.28 his right foot is outside the sandbag.
