Not impressed with Lynda Bellingham's widower making nasty comments about Darren Bennett.

Perhaps she wasn't so nice either.

Just a way to sell more books I suspect.

When and what did he say?

Ignore...I've just googled it. Poor show for him to bring this up now.

How terrible... A pro dancer who wanted to teach his celeb to dance and not lounge around having a laugh

That's a low blow from him, grieving or not.

If Lynda (rip) had wanted the public to know, she would/could have made it public.

Darren really has no form of redress as to do so about a deceased beloved public figure would look churlish.

I always got a dry vibe off Darren anyway and he was never a favourite of mine , but I read that story the other day and thought it a bit low down dirty .
I liked Lynda a lot , she seemed a nice woman and tended not to say anything too nasty , so I doubt she'd approve of her partner bringing up what was allegedly said in private conversations . I'm sure there are much nicer things they discussed , more in keeping with the person I believed Lynda to be .

Very unfair comments. Unfortunately, a lot of celebs have underestimated just how tough Strictly is. They tend to think it'll be a bit of a laugh and a bit of easy money. The thing is, they're paired up with pro dancers who take their jobs as teachers and dance partners seriously, which is as it should be.

One thing I will say is that Lynda may never have intended her comments to go beyond a private conversation with her husband. It's he who has seen fit to make the conversation public. Poor show from him!

Yes, I agree . She'd be mortified I think . I think that her nicer comments about other dancers on the show would be a more apt thing to discuss .
It's not like Darren can even comment back without looking looking like nasty git .

Lynda might not have liked Darren but he didn't make her look fat, did he? And maybe Darren didn't like her either!

Very unfair comments to make, there's no way Darren can say anything about it at all. I doubt she had wanted these comments out there in the public, they sound like private thoughts shared with spouses.

Yes, I felt the same when I read that. It's possible that the book is much more balanced and the papers have twisted what he said - they do twist things amazingly. And if not, I have no problem with him saying she didn't enjoy it or felt self-conscious in comparison with some of the other women in her year. If people want to criticise the show why shouldn't they. But to be personal and criticise someone when you weren't there, and when all you're doing is calling someone names really, the worst he's saying is that Darren was serious, is unkind and unnecessary.

Just a bit of gossip. So Darren is boring. He probably is. Who really cares?

I would imagine Darren and his family care.

There's something a bit tacky about the spouses (or parents) of dead stars who cash in on them once they die in an attempt to milk the cash cow for all its worth

The problem is that it is difficult to say anything bad about anyone who has died prematurely, but.........

......I found her a bit irritating on the show and so maybe Darren did, but was too polite and professional to say.

If you want to keep the memory of a loved one sweet and unsullied, then it is best not to write or cooperate on a book which is hurtful (however mildly) to the living.

Darren tweeted a response which I thought was nicely put

I hope all the proceeds from this book go to a cancer charity in memory of a very brave lady

Good for him for addressing this with dignity, while also alluding in to the possible pecuniary motives behind the book.

It does seem distasteful of LB's widower to publish private comments that LB herself chose not to make public, but I guess grief can cast a cloud over good judgment.

What a sweetheart.

The article comes across as though Lynda wasn't expecting the training sessions to involve any actual training.

Darren often came across on the show as someone who expected his partners to work hard, but there are lots of examples of him having a lot of fun and developing good relationships with his celeb partners. And I think in some ways he was at his best with contestants like Lynda and Gloria, because he supported them and took them seriously rather than going for the comedy factor.

I wonder what kind of git this makes of Mr. Husband. His wife had shared it with him privately and he puts it in a book. Although I really do wonder if/when the celebs complain about their partners to BBC if it has a consequence and BBC hires somebody else.

I'll never forget the selfie he took of him hanging oxo cubes on a Christmas tree in Dubai just after Lynda's death. Most unusual man.
