I know what the better end of this celebrity is. Very warm front. The isobar will rise. The mercury will shoot out of the thermometer. Stratocumulus in no time.

Rachel Riley reportedly said about herself that she could fall over just standing.
Perhaps you forgot about her?
Or considered her some undeveloped talent?

I think he really did try to teach Rachel, but she just wasn't getting it. I think it's quite often the case wth very intelligent people who dance...they're so used to analysing things very logically and aren't as good as just "feeling it" and moving to music.

Having mulled this over,I've come to the conclusion that Pasha's rather driven approach and his uncompromising artistic integrity mean he is unsuitable for any but the best contenders and so he must have only those as partners.

Pasha is certainly a great dancer, but a great teacher will recognise his/her student's capabilities - or lack of - and choreograph accordingly. Just remembering Rachel's quickstep, I don't think this is something I don't think Pasha is able to do. Over-complicated choreography will never make a weaker or less experienced dancer look good. True that Carol's cha cha wasn't that complicated, but he would have done better to have kept her in hold more and basically guided her if only so she could feel more confident.

Pasha - just remember "Less is More"

However, Pasha gave her far too much to do so yes, I do think past experience suggests he isn't great at adapting for the less than stellar partner. Carole really is a duffer but even her routine could have been simplified and given clear 'punctuations' to let her catch up and re-time into the routine - Erin used to do this in her Latin choreographies (and they were there in Anton's Jive for Katie). I think Darren Bennett was good at this too and worked good improvements in his average partners - Leticia Dean was no great natural dancer. To be fair most of the 'old style' pros - Ian Waite, Matthew Cutler etc - showed the ability to vary their choreography in a way the BTF lot seem to lack, maybe because in those days more of them had to teach as a side line money maker than they do today?”

Until he got onto the US SYTYCD he earned his day-to-day wages teaching at a dance school. And he had his fair share of older ladies there. They loved him. He's 'old school' in that he believes in teaching people the actual dance steps. That thunderbolt thing was definitely faffing/time wasting and I, too, wonder if it was his idea, but he's always serious about the dance steps. Carol seemed to be enjoying herself but I saw the nerves take over. I'll wait and see the next dance before second guessing his teaching style.

Rachel wasn't so good at Latin and I do think Pasha did ask too much of her and could have simplified it more with better results.

Carol surprised me in that she didn't seem to have learned much in the 3 weeks training. That may be down to Carol or Pasha's teaching, but it didn't look to me like he was asking her to do too much.
Maybe she will be much better at Ballroom?”

To me the "better at ballroom" thing is a bit misleading. It's not that bad celebs are any better at Ballroom, there just isn't as much scope to mess it up. If a celeb is bad at Latin, it means they have no rhythm and can't really dance IMO.
