But the reason for the thread is the spoiler. The fun is the anticipation and the build up to the spoiler, not just the spoiler. Take that away and the threads whole reason for the thread goes and any of the other many chat threads dotted around DS would do

It's become part of Strictly that I come on here to find out the spoiler. Various people in my family wait for me to pass it on. I know we can wait but I really enjoy finding out as soon as poss.

Because of that, I just wanted to thank all the people who give the spoilers, and those of you who take such trouble to try and sort it out - much, much appreciated.

I don't really understand that logic. You enjoy the chatter while waiting for the spoiler, but there's constantly chatter going on in other Strictly threads too. I've seen the spoiler threads before, and it's most just filled with people either going "when?" or predicting when the spoiler is going to come.

I'm sure people can cope if they have to wait one more day, the anticipation makes it more fun.

My point is if you enjoy chatting then chat, bring the joy of chatting for the spoiler to another thread, I don't understand the logic, if it is not about the spoiler but the absence of all the chatting, chat in another thread for chatter.

It's both - the spoiler anticipation and chat it generates at about 50/50. The chat without the spoiler is chat with a limp.

No, what you are really saying is that you don't want a spoiler thread.

I try to remain spoiler-free but I have no right to demand that others do so.
I think most of the spoiler thread die-hards are scrupulous in keeping the result within that thread

I am simple. The spoiler tells me the result shortly after it has happened. That is what I want, the banter is entertaining but not crucial. I hope the spoiler continues and bravo to all contributors,

I don't, but that is not what I was saying though, those who will miss the chatter and banter can still chat in a thread.

It is awful to either have a show ruined though or have to avoid anything to see reactions to dances with the spoiler, honestly I just wish they would go back to the live show results then it cannot be ruined.

Your gripe is with the BBC then. They make it possible for the show to be spoiled

Is it really that hard to avoid having the show "ruined"?

Just avoid Digital Spy and the DailyMail Side bar of shame, and you'll be good.

My husband still has no idea that it is possible to find out in advance who is going out, and is amazed by my extremely accurate predictions!

To be fair, you have to avoid more than the Strictly section of DS - there's the Daily Mail and last year a couple of the celebs gave the game away in hastily deleted tweets. While the show is held back a day, it will happen.

I Am sorry if I have offended anyone by my earlier remark.
BUT
Unless you like knowing the result early you will never understand where we on the spoiler thread are coming from.

So true. There are two completely opposing views, and those who like to wait and anticipate until the pre recorded Sunday show will never understand how we enjoy having the info as it happens.

Ha ha.......my hubbie thought I was some kind of magician for quite some time, until I 'fessed all !
Now he understands that I am in contact with * special people * ( his words ) who can provide me with this magical info.

Oh great ....now this has turned into what are the merits of having the spoiler thread. . Lovely.

Urging anyone who goes to the show this weekend to provide us with the spoiler. ....pretty please

I'm so desperate that I might go to the general discussion forum to ask them if ANYONE knows someone who will attend strictly this weekend .....if we don't have a mole by tomorrow. ..I will do it

But the chat is a byproduct of waiting for the spoiler, Not the reason for the thread, I honestly don't get your point

Well, to be fair, I only started this thread to ask if there would be a spoiler thread, so the discussion re a spoiler thread ( or not as the case may be ) does not seem too far off the topic of my thread.

Scarlotti has started the thread which asks for the mole and I, plus others, are trying to keep that one at the top of Page One ...

Again, I would quite like to come in to discuss the actual dances, but it does get leaked out, even in small ways, last year I knew Pixie went as it spilled into so many other threads, even just having a next to her name from some posters.

Thanks for starting the thread . It's just that this yearly discussion of the spoiler thread is annoying ..even MORE SO when we still don't have a mole

A lot of us enjoy it, others don't. I know that every year we have some fms who spoil the results prior to the results show but that's not our fault (those who like the spoiler thread)

My point being chatter can happen anywhere, I don't get how you don't get that.

Yes, understand completely what you mean. I like to think that all of us regular spoilerites never divulge the result, but there can be the occasional person who wanders through and then makes the result known on other threads. Very unfair of them.

I love the spoiler, and it wouldn't be the same on a chat thread - as the time gets nearer to the spoiler coming in it's great! i remember last year, think it was Blackpool, when the spoiler came in really late - the spoiler thread chat was great and it wouldn't be the same anywhere else!!

I've just picked up on this thread. Hi everyone who was on here last year. I really enjoy being able to get the spoiler on a Saturday night, and so so hope everyone from last year is OK. I know there was trouble one year aimed at poor Footiegirl, but I thought last year was for the most part very friendly, and that the regulars (and I include myself in that) acted with the utmost respect for those who didn't want to know the result. So PLEASE can we have a spoiler thread this year?
