I really like how pressing the fingerprint reader turns the phone on, that's smart.

Putting the fingerprint sensor on the back is a silly idea.
Your fingers are on the back before they are anywhere near the bottom front of the phone when picking it up or holding it.

The Sony Z5 takes an interesting approach where the sensor is on the side at the right in the middle. Again fingers are there before the bottom front if the phone.

So makes sense really.

In my mind, the fingerprint sensor has 2 main uses. Unlocking, and payment.

I use my phone a lot when it is just laying on my desk. A fingerprint sensor on the back would mean picking it up every time.

For payment, it would more or less limit you to a single finger on each hand unless you hold the phone in a weird way.

I think it's down to personal use. When I use my phone its always in my hand.

For payment, touching the sensor on the back in the normal way I hold a phone and then tapping the top of it on the reader would present no issue at all.

EE say they are supplying these on contract, and that they will support wifi calling.

I guess that it's highly unlikely that EE will customise the firmware on the Nexuses, as they have to do with the Samsungs and HTCs to support WiFi calling.

Could these be the first 2 Android devices to support it out of the box? Massive relief if so.

The Nexus 6 did have carrier specific builds after launch, which got a bit messy as if you wanted to go from a T-Mobile build to a Verizon build there was no OTA available the only option was to flash it.

Things changed in the marshmallow preview so I'm not sure what 6.0 will bring. Hopefully we will find out when T-Mobile USA offer WiFi calling and VoLTE which doesn't look to be immediately at launch.

Yeah, cos when you hold your phone your finger is always best placed at the bottom front of the screen

Not having the sensor on the front also allows them to avoid having a block of wasted space at the front. Nexus phones tend to have their "buttons" on screen which is so much more sensible and configurable than relying on hardware buttons (IMHO).

I've already explained why I don't think it is a good idea.

When holding my phone, putting a finger on the middle of the back of the case is not a natural position.

Anyway, it is just an observation. I think the phones look ok. I always liked the n4.

But it IS the most natural position. Just pick your phone up - index finger in the middle of the back thumb on the side. So the best two positions are back (Nexus) or side power button (Sony Z5). The worst position is the front bottom as in the OP2. Or do you pick your phone in a weird way?

I think people will adjust to wherever the finger print sensors are located on any device. I use iPhone an as I've only ever used a front finger print sensor it feel natural. As I hold my phone in a way that means I use my thumb to navigate the front of the phone. Hence using my thumb on the fingerprint sensor feels natural.

My finger tips don't really touch the rear of my phone as my little finger makes a rest at the bottom of the phone, the next 2 fingers make a back rest with finger tips off he edge of the phone and the final finger rests at the top rear of the phone with my thumb navigating the front. So for me PERSONALLY a front sensor is more natural.

If I hold my phone in landscape in one hand then my top and bottom fingers make a sort of grip/clamp with the 2 middle fingers making a back rest, an once again my thumb navigates then phone.

If in landscape in 2 hands then it rests on the bottom 2 fingers of each hand with the top 2 of each hand making a back rest an once again thumbs navigating the front of my phone so a front sensor just works for how I hold my device. I just don't see a rear sensor working for me, but I'm 100% sure I would adapt quite quickly in reality.

Well after much debating on what device to upgrade to (from a N5), i decided to pre order the 5x.

The 6p is great, future proof, but way too big. I used a "real size" compare on phonearena and the 6p is huge!

I agree daft idea might as well not be there for me, if the phone is on my desk or a table i now have to pick it up and fumble for the sensor.Rather than just place your finger on a front sensor.Hopefully it will still have knock code so you can unlock it that way.

My 16GB Nexus 5 was £230 from CPW, i am a bit gutted at the price of the new N5x ill be honest, i expected the 32GB one to be £299 direct from Play given its not at the bleeding edge of anything other than the USB connector.

No one in their right mind would buy a 16GB phone now especially since Goggle have raised the app size 100MB.

I was surprised to see the Nexus 6P doesn't include OIS. Other than that, it has pretty much everything I wanted in the next Nexus that my Nexus 6 doesn't have, for example:

1. Better rear camera for low light performance
2. Better front camera for anything because the Nexus 6 front camera is shocking
3. Fingerprint sensor
4. A smaller footprint, I found the Nexus 6 just slightly too large. The 6P is almost identical in size to the iPhone 6S Plus
5. A brighter screen, the Nexus 6 display is just way too dark to use comfortably in sunlight. Not sure what the actual brightness level of the 6P is though
6. Gorilla Glass 4
7. Bigger battery

I'm sticking to my iPhone 6S Plus, but if I wasn't, I'd get the Nexus 6P for sure.

How can Google charge more than CPW?!

I have cancelled the Google direct order and gone via CPW.

The 12mp camera, is it the slightly obscure Sony IMX117, the same as on the GoPro Hero3?

The Nexus 5 was also cheaper from CPW than from Google.

I'd pay more to Google just because of the superior warranty that they offer.

Doubt you get a next day replacement with two years on the replacement though...

I have a G3, which has buttons on the back. When I hold the phone in my left hand, the index finger falls across the volume up and on/off button.

Having the finger print sensor at the back is the best place for it. Its where your fingers will be when holding the phone.

As for using the phone when it on the desk, I have tried that, its not for me. I always end up picking it up. Its a far more natural way of using it, rather than leaning forward and making sure your head is more or less hovering above the phone. So you end up like a hunchback in your chair.

I have not seen any phone tempt me away from my G3, and these two phones dont either. Although I do like the 6p comes close. It does look nice. Also something else to note is the huge battery on the 6p, its 3450mAh.

It's not a natural position on a smaller phone but on a phablet it tends to be where your finger naturally sits.

I pre-ordered a Nexus 6 from Carphone Warehouse last year.

After the release of the phone was delayed several times, I cancelled the order and got one from giffgaff.

They never refunded the amount they'd taken upfront for the phone and claimed that they didn't have the money.

I had to file a chargeback with my credit card company in the end.

Suffice to say I'd never order from them again - even if it was cheaper.
