I doubt anyone's gonna be leaving over this.

They'll eventually get around to arresting Aaron - Robert will regain consciousness and suddenly be revealed to have a "heart" after all - lie to the police that he saw who shot him but didn't recognise him - and the police will drop the charges, leaving the case unsolved - and that'll be the end of the whoshotRobert storyline.

Don't think it will be Ashley or Paady, however I do think that the will be involved in the flashback episode as it said two more secrets will be revealed, and. I think it will be these two who have other secrets.

IMO Paddy is a classic red herring. If he seriously had intended to kill Robert, he would have done it differently.
I also doubt he cheated on Rhona with the new character, it would be too obvious, and quite out of character. I know he's cheated before, but random ONS just don't seem like his thing to me.

That said, I'm still not sure who I'd bet on right now. I like the Chas in denial theory, it would explain a lot. But the Whites are also behaving weirdly, not convinced that's entirely down to Lawrence and Chrissie suspecting each other.
The same goes for Aaron...is he really just covering for Chas?

I think it's Paddy and Aaron with the secrets. Paddy had the unexplained broken and cracked glasses, unless it is a complete red herring and he dropped them and they were trodden on by a rampant animal he was treating or something similar. Although he did appear to be acting oddly when Marlon found him wandering along the road.

Then there's Aaron with a red and black bag that looks suspiciously like the one Ross had and Lachlan found plus it contains a gun. How did Aaron get his hands on the gun, assuming it's the same one, and the bag that's what I'd like to know unless they're common in the village. The gun was put in the White's safe but what happened to the bag? Could be yet another red herring, but I believe from the way he's acting and the fact he tries to dispose of the gun that he's hiding something or believes he knows who did it..

I don't think either shot Robert though. Chas was so close to Robert at the time that I don't believe Aaron would risk the chance of possibly injuring his mum. Paddy is very fond of Chas too so don't think he'd risk it either.

But if it is something that has never happened in a soap before then it more than likely can't be related to a bullet being somehow accidentally fired and hitting an innocent victim. Something like that happened just a few weeks ago in Hollyoaks when a young woman in a nearby garage was hit by a ricocheting bullet. On that occasion though people were fighting over a gun. Maybe it could be classed as different as the person who fired it did so totally innocently/accidentally for whatever reason.

So gotta think it's going to be somebody we least expect like Ashley. If it brings the secrets to light though then, by my thinking, it's got to also somehow involve Paddy and Aaron and maybe also Lachlan. Oh, heck, I'm going for Cheryl the dog as the culprit who somehow trod on the trigger with her paw after a vigil at Val's grave. I'm joking......I think

My firs theory was that it was Chas and Aaron knows she did it and took the gun from her but Chas is in shock and shut out the memory of doing it. My other theory is that it was Ross. He overheard Chrissie talking in the pub about the gun being in the safe. Maybe he tried to break into the safe but was caught by Lawrence who had found out that Ross was involved in the Home Farm raid. Lawrence may then have blackmailed Ross into shooting Robert for him. Ross was acting strangely when he said goodbye to Debbie and seemed in shock. Convenient that he is missing for most of the aftermath and viewers cannot see how he is acting.

Assuming that the gun Aaron has IS the weapon that shot Robert - why would Ross just leave it lying around for Aaron to find

And - as I've said before - if Lawrence had pre-arranged for Ross to shoot Robert - why did he bother going to find Robert to tell him he wasn't going to let Robert gat any money from Home farm & would sell up & disappear.
Surely if you'd arranged a "hit" on someone - and you or your family would be considered a prime suspect for it - you'd be busy organising yourself and your family with a watertight alibi surely

As soon as we had the scene with her seeing Andy beating up Robert and reacting badly i thought she'd be the one to shoot Robert.

Does anyone else think it could be Rebecca White? Kate Oates has said it would be a surprise and a soap first, and bringing in a new character as the perpetrator of a whodunnit storyline would be quite unique. She has a motive for it, after everything Robert has put her family through and we all know her arrival is long overdue. Also she would have access to the safe at home farm.

April Windsor. She was playing cops and robbers with the gun and accidentally shot Robert. The whole village will slowly discover this but agree to keep quiet and the blame will get pinned on Aaron after Lawrence pays off the police and jury to pin the blame on him.

I'm guessing it's someone we totally don't suspect, Kate Oates said that there's 2 other big secrets revealed in the rewind episode. So I'd say something happened off screen that drove someone to try to kill Robert. Maybe it was Rebecca, Eric or even Victoria?

I agree with the OP. Ashley found the gun, had a seizure, fired the bullet and forgot that he did it.

Also, immediately after Robert was shot, Kerry joked "It was Ashley with a cap gun... wasn't it?" A clue hidden in plain sight.

Ross, but he was hired to do it by Chrissie.
