BK - Black Halloween Whopper
PunksNotDead

Quote:
“Fans of multi-coloured food will rejoice at the new spooky addition to the fast food behemoth's menu choices. The burger is made up of a Whopper patty, cheese slices, pickles, sauce, onion slices, tomato slices, lettuce and mayonnaise whilst the black bun is coloured using a natural colourant and has a BBQ flavour baked in. The burger was rolled out in participating UK stores yesterday and will be available until October 31.”

Will you be trying one?

Had one this afternoon, nothing to write home about really the bun was rather tasteless..
Not sure I'd have another one anytime soon.

I've been practicing for halloween with squid & cuttlefish ink.. Which is very messy, but not (to me) very flavorsome. However, by bunging some dried peas in a coffee grinder, I have made nice, green, pea-flavored 'mould'

In all seriousness, does squid ink taste fishy or does it taste inky? I'm sure we have all sucked a Bic pen too hard or ended up with Quink in our mouths from schooldays.
I have vivid memories of that.
I just wondered.

To me, it didn't taste of much. Trying it neat, ie sticking my finger in and licking it tastes a bit salty with a hint of iodine. It didn't take that much to make food go black, and didn't noticeably add to the flavor. Same with cuttlefish ink.

I wouldn't mind trying it. Specialist shop? Waitrose? Where to get it?

I got it from a Japanese shop in my town, but can probably get it online. Or if you've got a decent fishmonger that sells fresh squid or cuttlefish, ask them. If they dress them themselves, they should have some or can sell you a whole squid.

I'd give it a try but the closest burger king is miles away. I'll stick with maccy d for my monthly treat.
