He hasn't tried to hide his past dance experience, and it's been mentioned before in other threads. He's even put up clips of him doing short bits of dance recently on Twitter.
He contemporary dance trained from age 13 to 19, then joined The Wanted. He is now 25.

Being an " accomplished dancer " and experiencing crippling stage fright are 2 different things. How can people think that he's faking his nervousness

How so??

It's in his BBC profile what he has done in terms of dance schools, he has hidden it from no one.

Jay, he is amazing, very lyrical arms which is always so hard to teach the men, naturally gifted, also along those lines, Anita, she just has it, I cannot believe she has never danced before, especially with those kicks, amazing.
Helen looked good, so did Georgia, but I do hope her partner does something about her extended foot as it is causing such an ugly end to her lines.
Kellie looked really great and Peter looked good too, plus Katie.

Wow, I think we may be in for a really good show!”

Jay isn't exactly a beginner though.

Jay was quite good in training.

Georgia also good, i like the vase shape in the topline, and she has never done a waltz before.

I saw a video yesterday which shows that he is already a good dancer. He can even do lifts(11.57mins in) so he really is no beginner to dance.

The video is quite long but if you are interested and stick with it it is pretty interesting.

That's very disappointing . It's not even short bursts of dance for live concerts or similar brief displays. It's proper full length routines incorporating loads of styles .
Bit of a cheat if you ask me , and I've gone right off him now .”

Mr Jay - the triple threat - singer, actor (shrinking violet/butter wouldn't melt) and accomplished dancer.

That's some extensive dance training and performance experience he has in his arsenal. Aliona could throw anything at him and he'd execute it with panache. Their show dance will be some spectacle.

Jay has never hidden the fact that he went to college and did dance, its even on his bio on the Strictly website!

as for the nerves, I believe they are real but if you want to call him a cheat then that is entirely up to you - he is no more a "cheat" than many celebs who take part in Strictly these days! Kellie has had training, Georgia has had training, Peter has had training - the list goes on and on - every year many of the celebs have had dance training before doing Strictly, its nothing new

Exactly, his nerves are completely obvious, and he's never hidden his dance training

A lot of very famous, very accomplished performers suffer from stage fright, and as Jay is performing, without the back up of four other people, on stage for the first time on a show watched by millions with the spotlight firmly on him, I hardly think his nerves are unbelievable or put on.

Neither is Helen, or Kellie and most likely Georgia has done dance too.

I never really care about past experience, if you had a whole cast who didn't know any dance then you would have a pretty poor show because it is very hard to learn how to dance so quickly.

You would also have run outof people from the celeb world as they pretty much all have been to schools where they do dance.

if you listed all the celebs that had taken part in the entire run of Strictly and then highlighted the ones that had had some form of dance training, it would be vastly longer than the ones that hadnt

From what was shown on ITT I don't think that Iwan has made great strides and poor exasperated Ola remarked how he was like a child

I wasn't feeling the love

Georgia has done Hip Hop/Freestyle, she admitted it herself during her reveal on BBC Breakfast, seen it myself.

Apart from Natalie Gumede i don't think any other contestant has had as much training as Jay appears to have! I normally don't care about peoples past experience but gosh Jay seems very professional in that video. How can you have Jay on one side and someone like Carol on the other - its not a level playing pitch. I know the mix of contestants and their experience is part of what makes Strictly enjoyable and its great to see someone on that 'journey' I like Jay, he seems like a good guy but leaving aside his nerves, he is already way ahead of some others in terms of having an advantage!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, the most experienced celebrities rarely win (Kara is an exception, she was a HUGE ringer!).

By the way, would you really watch Strictly if everyone was at the same beginner level as Carol? I wouldn't.

if only she could use her legs - as well as the toes! She does not seem to be able to stretch them properly right down to her feet - or maybe he hasn't told her she has to?

It makes her look like a lazy dancer, which I am sure she isn't. Maybe it's lack of focus: she doesn't come across as someone who thinks too much.

He's way ahead of Carol.

Helen has trained in Ballet, Jive, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Period dancing.

Like Natalie, Kelly brook had a lot of dance training and aimed to be a professional dancer.

Really? I think Jay is just a natural with good posture. Peter Andre has has years of stage school (x2) dance training - more than anyone else on the whole show - and has danced in a professional capacity for some years as well.

If anyone is a ringer, it's him. I can see they wanted him to pull in a bigger audience, but he has one hell of an advantage over all the others.

That is if you like him of course. I remain unmoved.

I think Jay and Helen have much more dance training under their belts than Peter, but Peter appears to have the most "experience" dancing,
