"Then and Now"
Doghouse Riley
01-10-2015
Dennis Boy on the "Dancing" thread linked this video, to demonstrate how poor some of what we've seen has been. (Yes I know it's only the first week, but they've had three weeks to get just that little bit right).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HB4MXF_So5w

What struck me was the absence of all the current "over the top" lighting effects back in 2009.

I'm of the opinion they are now a distraction from the actual dancing and spoil the programme.

I think the producer is well on the road to "improving" this show to death.
In my opinion, it's now only worth recording and then fast-forwarding through all the ever increasing nonsense. It's been like that now for several years.

BIB - got to agree. I dislike the absurd music choices, the use of props - particularly pros and celebs flying! - and the inane VTs. I watched last Friday's programme as it was broadcast and one hour was quite do-able. Could not watch the Saturday show and ended up watching the dances only. Much preferable to the other nonsense including the pro dances, which I'm disliking more and more as well as everything else.

I do not think Strictly will die but will appeal to a different type of audience/viewer.
