It's six minutes in and i am bored already. The whole concept appears flawed and un-original. I predict a total flop.

Having enjoyed the previous series on the strength of Ramsey & Currie alone i simply cannot be bothered with this one.

Who are these people? Who cares.

this year seems flawed?

WHAT?! Compare this year to last, this is 1 million times better, it's totally organised and anything could happen, last year was a shambles compared to this years.

i prefered last years instantly, but today's wasn't bad at all, i'm sure it'll be even better.

I cannot compare it to last year's show since I didn't watch it but I really didn't find it particularly interesting tonight and doubt if I'll bother watching it again.

I really enjoyed last year's offering and I think I'm going to enjoy this year's.

The main difference is the lack of celebrities in the kitchen, which makes it a bit more like Big Brother but with less of the "playing to the camera". I would think they're too busy to care/think about what they mutter under their breath at times.

It could get very interesting indeed

The contrestants are in an odd position. Some of them, presumably, want to win this and so will be biting their tongue and doing their best. That means the public won't warm to them. The ones who don't give a toss are likely going to be the ones who stand up to the Chefs and may well get popular with public, and hence voted to win.

It think it could be more interesting than the celeb version. Some of the contestants look like they want a food career, or to advance one they already have, not just to get some tv exposure; and I'm already interested in seeing what happens to some of them.

This is exactly the reason I'm interested in the show. I much prefer a non-celebrity version as all the contestants are on an equal, unbiasied platform.

My problem is with the two chefs vying for centre stage and thwarting any chance of the contestants showing any of their personalities...especially in Gary's camp. Thos guys are scared to breathe. Wheras JC is too busy table hopping and canoodling with the celebs. It seems to me that these two chefs want this show to be about them and not the contestants which I'm sure is fine for some viewers, but I want to see the contestants personalities not the chefs.

Anyway it's early days yet.

Is it 15 days like they said last night or 10 weeks like the free newspaper supplement i was reading said?

And what do they win? Thier OWN top restaurant or something?

It's too early to tell, I think. But Gary seems to have more anger than Gordon even, all repressed. He seems to struggle with not letting his London accent come out too.

IMO the most important ingredient missing in HK2 is the celebrity chef's.

HK1 worked because the great, sophisticated British public enjoyed watching the genius that is Gordon Ramsey totally humiliate the interesting array of celebrities.

Who can forget the verbal insults Ramsey v Currie in the infamous "stupid bit*h" rosottogate incident.

Ramsey daring to mention the M word to Currie and Amanda Barries pathetic attempts to floor Ramsey with a left hook. Classic TV moments.

Ramsey is a genuine WYSIWYG character. Unlike the fake hardmen on HK2.

If the producers had any sense they should have replaced Ramsey with the real hardman of TV chef's Ainsley Harriott.

Having switched off during the first ten minutes of HK2 i cannot comment on how the new show will pan out.

However i looking forward to watching the new US show where Ramsey will be training amateur chef's.

The winner i understand will receive the Hells Kitchen Restaurant as first prize worth an estimated 2 Million Dollars. That's a sure ratings winner.

Ramsey will be the next Simon Cowell in the US and stand by my original comments HK2 will be a massive ratings flop.

Brent, maybe you are right. The opening episode started with approx 6.5 million viewers and approx 2 million switched off or over during the show.
I must admit I was one of those who got bored and turned over to something else.

I kept watching it last night to see if it would pick up, which it didn't.

I'm giving it another chance again tonight to see if any of the contestants grow a personality, that's if any of the red team actually come out of their muted trance and speak.

Brent, I think the US show with Gordon Ramsay sounds good. Do you know what channel is it going to be on and when?

Thanks for that Brent.

That's going to cause me a slight dilemma when BB begins on the 27th

Thanks. I hope it does and then all I'd have to do is subscribe to SKY Digital (got NTL just now) so that I can tape one and watch the other.
